Well, professional spiritual consultants need to put food on the table, too. I would be afraid more that someone was not really gifted as a spiritual consultant was charging me lots of money for crap. It's not exactly a regulated industry.

I know a woman who is medium and retired cop, and she does circles and things for dinner at someones house and $7 a person, to supplement her pension. I believe that she is real partly because she doesn't charge a lot of money, and partly because she is deadly accurate about the things she sees.

I would make sure before you give anyone money that they are not con artists trying to make a buck off of innocent people.

nothing is free. even "spiritual consultants" as you call it, need food on the table, roof of their heads, etc.

Tithing is one way of fullfilling this need. Many religious organizations have it. Some have recommended percentages of an individuals total income, others are much more liberal, and doesn't have any required minimum tithing amounts.

Volunteered giving is a beautiful way of supporting those who sacrifice their lives for spiritual guidance of others, because the people who benifit/or not benifit determine the value of the service they receive and repay accordingly.

I agree with what you said, that if a "spiritual consultant" demands payment and/or heavy fees for their work, (for ex. scientology is notorious for their hefty fees) most probably their underlying motives is the condition of your bank of account, not really for your soul.

hope that helps

oh, and don't forget to send me that check of $100 asap :oP

and their food would come from where ? and their children should starve also ? and their bills would disappear ?
i think anyone who offers a service to anyone else is entitled to payment ...i don't hear of priests or ministers starving .. of course not they give wonderful service to others and make their lives better I'm sure , so they deserve payment for their service
I'm sure if people feel the need to go to a spiritual consultant ( although I'm not quite clear on what you mean by that ) but they deserve payment for their services like anyone else
imagine how many brain surgeons would give their time freely yet surely they have a gift to give to mankind ??

If people do not believe in Christ, what should it matter? Do you pay the Islamic 7-11 business man what he charges? Do you pay the Chinese Laundry what they charge? Do you pay the Indian rug makers what they charge? Do you pay the Jewish clothier/jeweler what he charges for his products? Do you pay what the atheist pornographer charges for his books and toys? Spiritual Advisors --- sounds more like fortune tellers. Do you mean Counselors? Christian Counselors are no different than non-Christian Counselors; college degrees, medical degrees, and practices. Are they different----in many ways, yes; but not in the sense of providing services to the public at large.

Can you tell me why Christians would have to NOT have good business sense and be prosperous?

Psalms 23 is just one of many Scriptures that tell us what true prosperity is. In it we see presence, protection, guidance, abundance, mercy, goodness and no lack.

Some think that prosperity is just money. Being millionaires. They are sadly mistaken.

Prosperity is a very spiritual thing. If we are not prospering spiritually we cannot expect to prosper physically (Gal. 5:22-23).

Deut. 28 explains that obedience brings blessings. Disobedience brings curses. Poverty is mentioned in the curses. (Prov. 13:18, 25).

God has already dealt with the problem of poverty (2 Cor. 8:9; Col. 1:16-17).

It is not wrong to have money, it is wrong for money to have you. (1 Tim. 6:10, 17-19).

TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN, MUCH IS REQUIRED!!!

That which God gives us, He expects us to give as He has blessed us. (Deut. 16:17).

God's desire is to use the blessings He gives to us to spread the good news of Jesus Christ throughout the earth. (Deut. 8:18).

God has a great love for poor people and expects us to minister to them. (Prov. 14:21, 31; 19:17; 28:27; 29:7; 31:20).

If we expect to receive the abundance of God we must be ready to give. (Luke 6:38; Mark 10:29-30).

God has given the spiritual law of tithing to help us establish a giving of a percentage of our income unto Him. (Malachi 3:8-12; Prov. 3:9-10; Genesis 14:18-20).

Laziness is the way to poverty. God expects us to work (Proverbs 12:24; 13:4, 11; 14:23; 2 Thess. 3:10).

Joseph is a good example of God using our work to prosper us (Gen. 39:2-6, 20-23).

Keeping God's word will always enable us to prosper spiritually, mentally, and physically (Deut. 29:9; Isa. 1:19).

All that has been mentioned previously could not be possible without God's faith producing Word. Stand on the Word of God and see the results of prosperity in your life.

The difference between other business practices and Christian business practices is Jesus Christ. The business belongs to God, and we are to do all things that glorify God. Also, remember, Christians tithe 10% of everything they earn---then offerings and gifts are over and above those tithes. I can tell you right now, that any business that does not tithe---any household that withholds from God the tithes and offerings---will not be prosperous to the full measure of God's plan.

Isn't the church as a whole a 'spiritual consultant'?
Why does it charge such ungodly amounts?

Also, since when did Jesus become incorporated? I see alot of churchs with the name INC. in them.

What up with that?

hmmm. That's really wack. I think we need to help the church out with tithes or plate donations so that they can operate and pay their con ed bill, but when it comes to a spiritual consultant I really don't get it. I give people godly advice based on the bible all the time and I haven't seen a dime and I don't want even a dime.

Just anything to bash christianity huh!....have you closed your eyes to what the heathen consultants are charging?....guess not!......for your information....christian consultants are given free will Love Offerings most of the time!........go learn how God does His business and stop pointing the finger at christianity not knowing what you're talking about!......ps how much do your adverage lawyer charge!...how much do the heathens spend on strippers, cassinos, alcohol, fun, demonic videos, demonic movies, cigaretts, child porn, adult pornagraphy, keeping up with the jones, etc. etc. etc......to sum it up..Myself as well as hundreds of thousand other believers would rather give our money to the ministries that do people good than to give it to the heathenistic demonic things that destroys peoples lives!.......Get Real!...

From the scientific point of view: you would pay $100/hr or more to see a phychologist (if you have medical insurance, maybe just $20 co-pay, but the doctor gets the whole amount charged). So from the spiritual point of view: if you really respect them, you'll pay them what they're worth. But just don't get addicted to having other people try to solve your problems.

Being a "spiritual consultant" is a BUSINESS! It requires only the ability to ferret out the weaknesses &emotional deficets of their target. Unfortunately, the laws against taking advantage of the simple-minded have no teeth. CAVAET EMPTOR!
