Welcome to my world. That very same thing happened to me 2 nights ago. I have two foster dogs, and the 2 yr old yellow lab, just does not like the 1 year old chocolate lab, I know, very odd for labs. But I was petting Charlie, when Jack jumped him, and my hand was in the way and although not badly bitten, I have one deep puncture wound on the top of my hand that is still swollen and hurts like you know what. As for your dogs, sounds as though your older one is a bit food agressive, so you may want to start working with it now to break that habit. He will probably do the same when the puppy gets around anything that he feels is his, as he is being possessive. Good luck - it's not fun.

Well, I haven't interrupted a doggy fight before, but I have been bit by a pitbull. I can tell you/.... that after beein' biten, I was rushed to the ER to have it cleaned out to prevent infection.
If you haven't contacted a doctor yet, I think you should, unless it's just a minor little wound, if you're punctured, you should at least call a doctor and let him/her make that decision.
Another way to stop two dogs from fightin'... or to prevent them... is to use water. If you can or have one around the house, Get a spray bottle. And old hair spray bottle could work, or you can buy one for cheap at a local pharamacy, usually by the hair department. Fill it with water, and whenever you feel the dogs may be gettin' irrated by eachother, spray them a few times while repremanding them at the same time, this way the dog is put in a small surprise by the sudden wet sprist of water, and ALSO understands whatever he was doing was wrong, and that's why he got sprayed and screamed at.
Let me know how it goes.
:)

I haven't been bit but I saw that happen to someone at a dog park once. I suggest feeding them separately and also training the pup so you can take his food away. What you do is talk to the pup nice and take its food away for 30 seconds or so then give it back. Its a really good thing to teach them. Its done so that if/when they ever have something they are not supossed to you can easily take it away without harming yourself. Its best done when they're pups though.

No. I have never been bit by dogs i guess i have been lucky. . They establish ranks and will fight for food. Feed the older one first then set the puppy food aside not too close to the adult dog. Make sure you have both bowls served so your pup doesn't get antsy. Maybe try keeping the pup in a kennel for feeding time. It will avoid the growling. Adult dogs get annoyed by pups easily.

Not a good place to stick your hand!
If your 9 wk old pup has an attitude like that, you had better get him to a puppy k class and start working with him or you will be having big trouble down the road.

That almost always guarantees that you'll get bit! In the heat of the moment, the dogs assume you're another dog joining the fight. Use anything else but your body, smack pots and pans together or dump some cold water on them. Keep both dogs on leashes, so you can pull them apart safely.

Nope. I've never had my hand cut by the garbage disposal, either. I've also never hurt my hand from sticking it in the cooling fan on a running car motor. And, come to think of it, I've never been bitten from sticking my hand in a bears' mouth.
Do you know why? I bet you can guess. You're such a smart cookie....

Yes.
I've been bitten by my male Chihuahua drawing blood each time. He often goes eye to eye with my German Shephard. So when I try to pick him up to put an end to it, he bites me. It has happened at least three times and hurts like hell.
In fact, he went at it with my female Chihuahua last night and I put a stop to it by using my leg. Learned my lesson!
