Depends on whether it is integrated or add-on.

There are some things I would like to get but because I don't have a graphics card (something besides integrated, or on the motherboard) I can't load them on the system.

Here's how to check the video chip and video RAM you have in the system:

Go to System Information (in WinXP go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, then System Information). When it finishes loading, click the plus next to Components, then the plus next to Multimedia, then click on Display. Under "Name" it will show what video chipset you have, and under "Adapter RAM" it will show how much memory. For example, on my system which has integrated video it has VIA/S3G Unichrome IGP, with 64MB RAM (and as it is an HP system with an AMD processor, the 64MB is part of the total RAM on the system of 512MB).

Hope this helps...

1) Right click on the desktop. Select properties. Or go to control panels and open the display icon.
2) Click on the settings tab.
3) Click on advanced. That should bring up some more tabs that contain your video card.
4) Select the tab that relates to your video card, assuming you know what type of video card you have. This should bring up some properties option you can click on.

When you turn on your computer the first screen displayed usually gives you this information.

Alternatively, in Windows right-click on your desktop, select 'Properties', then 'Settings', then 'Adapter' to see the information about your video card.

if you have Microsoft DirectX installed you can run dxdiag and that will give you all the info on your video card.
