My cat recently went to the vet and came back severely infested with fleas. We are currently giving her Frontline, and we have washed everything she sleeps on, and used flea rug powder before vacuuming each room. However, the fleas are still on her, and I have found a few of them on myself as well. (I am by no means a dirty person. I shower daily.) Please help me! These fleas are driving me crazy.

She was given an application of Frontline about 2 weeks ago. I have to wait another 2 weeks to give her another application.

you need to flea bomb the house (also gets rid of other bugs), take your cat to a groomers and then after 4 hours air out your house and make sure to flea dip your cat. Borax laundry detergent sprinkled on you furniture and carpets, then vacuumed up helps too and freshens everything. I live in the south and I also have to give an internal flea prevention along with everything above and Front line.

You have to use a flea bomb in your home as they can live for up to 2 years without food and water so your cat will keep getting them. When you bomb the house you must cover food and remove all other pets and fish . Open all doors and shut off all pilot lights to furnace etc. You have to take the cat and bathe and flea dip it away from the house , say leave at your vet to do. This should work . When you come back to the house a few hours later , open windows to air it out and wipe all tables and counters to clean.Keep the Frontline on and keep the cat in the house if possible. I hope this helps and even if it sounds like a lot it is the only way to get rid of them .

Frontline is a great product, but I find that it is best to remove as many fleas as you can. I know that cats hate to be bathed, but if you hold the cat by the scruff of the neck like it's mom did the cat will go limp and you will get fewer scratch. If you are using frontline, don't bathe the cat with flea shampoo, but just regular cat shampoo. Bathing will remove a lot of fleas and you can comb more out with a flea comb after the cat is dry. If you don't want to attempt the bath, take the cat to a groomer who will do it for you. There are even mobile groomers who will come to you which may be less tramatic for the cat.
If your cat spends some time outside, you may need to spray the grass to kill the fleas. You can keep the fleas off of yourself by using Avon's Skin So Soft. The smell really repels all sorts of bugs!

Fleas don't mean you or your cat or dirty. First get some borax (laundry detergent--greenish box) sprinkle that like carpet freshener on everything...carpet, bedding-yours and the cats, furniture, etc. anything made of fabric. While that sets in bath the cat with flea shampoo, and do the frontline. Then wash all the bedding and vaccuum everything else. That should take care of the problem. If you still have a little bit of a problem keep using borax on the carpets...fleas lay their eggs in carpets and most flea powders only kill fleas not eggs. The borax does both. I use the borax on the carpets about twice during the summer season. I no longer have a problem with fleas at all, ever. Best trick I ever learned.

Zodiac flea spray it had an Insect Growth Regulator in it the frontline works well on my cats but it can take up to 72 hours for them to be completely off your feline friend and it will not kill the fleas around the home the Spray is sold at petsmart for about 10 dollars and is well worth it....we had a raging infestation here about a month ago and it was the ONLY thing that stopped it!

frontline doesn't actually kill the flea/ticks that are on your animal, they will kill if they bite your animal... what you need to do (i have found this to be most effective) is go to the vet, get a pill called a "Capstar" this is a 24 hours preventative (and kills everything that is on your pet wether it bites them or not) one hour after giving your cat this pill give her a bath, this will wash off all of the dead fleas/ticks... after your cat is dry, you can apply the frontline between the shoulder blades and you should be set for her... now for your home i would recommend getting a spray treatment called "Siphotrol Spray" this is for your carpets, fleas burrough deep into the carpet fibers so i recommend also to vaccuum before treating carpets... or if you want, you can all a professional, someone like Terminix (1-800-TERMINIX) to come out and properly treat the home... you would have to take your cat to the vet to be flea dipped (this is what terminix recommends) while they are treating home and you and all other living things have to be taken out of the house for atleast 4-5 hours to give the chemical enough time to settle into the carpet fibers and dry... if you have fish, you need to turn off all pumps and unplug them and cover the tank with a damp towel... you will more than likely see fleas after about 7-10 days after either treatment (the chemical will break open any eggs that are in your home so those are the fleas that you will see after the treatment) so you will need to either buy a few cans of the Siphotrol Spray or call the exterminator again to come out to retreat your home (should be no extra cost with the service)... hope all goes well, good luck!!!

talk with the vet to see if it would be okay to give her an extra dose of Frontline because she is flea infested (don't just do it, can make cat very sick! consult vet before hand)

I had a very similar problem. When we first got my cat he was infested with fleas! It was the worst I'd ever seen a cat! First we washed him with flea shampoo and then used the medication...no luck. We tried the collar, flea powder, even raid for our house! No luck...he was still infested and so was our house. So...I kept washing him everyday (even though he hated it!) And I kept the flea collar on him, and I found this spray that worked well. You can buy it at PetSmart or Petco...It's called "Hartz Advantage 3 in 1 cat spray" you basically just spray it on the cat, rub it in and let it soak in for about 10 minutes...then you comb the cats hair with a flea brush that you can also get at any pet store. Within a week, the fleas were gone!! Visit the link below for more info on the product. Good luck!!

Do everything you're doing, and give the cat a bath, and ask the vet to give you Revolution if they have it. It is only avaliable on the internet and at your vets office by perscription. It protects against ear mites, fleas, ticks, and many more things. It is very good!

So, keep vaccuming with the flea powder, wash her stuff and everything that she uses, give her a bath, and finish off with Revolution or try Advantage or Frontline. Just the medicine wouldn't help. Good luck!!

You COULD try all the flea medications, but they never seem to work. My Dad used to live in a house that had 28 pet cats! I wasn't born yet. This house was INFESTED!!! And I mean bad! The fleas were the size of ladybugs. Here's what my dad and the roommates that lived with him did: they all went out to the woods somewhere and collected hundreds of eucalyptus leaves. Put them in sacks. They took all these leaves and spread them all over the house. In between couch cushions, everywhere they could think of where fleas could hide. And they kept all the cats inside. 28 cats, can you imagine? Within about a week or so, EVERY flea was gone. Sure, you'll have eucalyptus leaves all over your house, but you can clean them all up easily, and you won't have fleas anymore. And if you keep your cat in the house, she'll smell like the leaves and the fleas will stay away from her.

By personal experience let me tell you this.... You dont just have to treat your cat, You have to treat EVERYTHING..... Beleive it or not even if the fleas are gone (after you have applied treatment) If the cat goes outside, they can come back on her. You need to clean the house and treat everything inside, and dont let her out until you have completely gotten rid of them... try not to let her in the lawn for a couple of days.. ( maybe she left some fleas outside) Frontline works But you have to help out TOO.
