Lots of exercise and quality play time and some good training. Exercise is most important though - a tired dog is a calm dog.

First - what kind of dog is it? There are some breeds that remain high strung, no matter what - a Jack Russell Terrier comes to mind. Second - how old is the dog? Just neutering it doesn't take it out of puppyhood. It still has to grow and mellow as it does so. And third - how long ago was he neutered? It takes time for the testosterone to leave the dogs body, usually about 3 months. So, with those things in mind, you might want to proceed to a dog trainer for further instructions on how to train your dog to be what you would like it to be. And be patient, it isn't going to happen over night.

The dog is not stupid and getting the dog neutered does not calm it down. As your dog matures it will naturally calm but it needs to get adequate exercise and needs some training. If he doesn't know the rules he can't follow them.

The dog is not stupid, YOU are not being a good pack leader. Pick up a copy of "Ceasar's Way" by Ceasar Millan, and read it very carefully. Follow the instructions in the book.
