I have the same problem with my mother. I know how disappointing and how discouraging it feels when the closest people who have the same blood as you make you feel like that. But I guess we are lucky people who have parents but happen to be unfortunate that way. Personally, I am starting to practice to love myself, care about myself and what I think about myself. Try to please youself, you know why? because at least by the end, you are going to love yourself. I am not saying be selfish, but learn to be happy about yourself without caring what others think of you...

There are lots of people out there like you.
Many people have difficult family relationships. My dad and I were never close, when I was younger. Now that I am middle aged we get along just fine.
Sometimes we need to speak up, in a calm manner, and ask our parents what we can do to improve our relationship. I had to actually tell my mom she was my biggest critic. I am sure that hurt, but it made the point. I was shaking while saying it.

well, we all fight with our parents over no reason which due to difference in our point of views. As we grow big our behavior with each other changes and we do have tiffs as we can easily accept the change of other people suddenly. When i had passed out a very important exam of mine recently, my father was in no mood to enjoy the moment like times he used to when i was in school just because he started thinking that we are grown ups and don't to celebrate it now for a silly thing.

Sorry for your worries. My Dad was almost 60 when I was born and I never really felt like I knew him. He died a few years ago. You still have time to try to work things out. Good luck!

Yes..that is at first.........i tried killing myself with overlearning...tried to be miss perfect but it didn't solve anything.
THERE ARE TWO THINGS THAT ONE CAN AND CANNOT DO: YOU CAN CHANGE BUT YOU CANNOT GHANGE ANOTHER PERSON .
So let the imnpossibility specialist work this out.
i tried to ignore my emotional abuse and live originally to be happy as i am.Also,i prayed to God to make me happy by helping me to be grateful for anything and making my Dad love me back each time i felt the hurt.i accepted God as my dad and imagined that i had a dad to give me all the emotional ups for my emotional downs

MY DAD WAAS A DRUNKEN NUT JOB, THAT'S WHY I HAVEN'T SEEN HIM IN 12YRS WHEN HE DIES I WILL NOT GO THE THE FUNERAL. IT IS EASIER. EVERY TIME I TRIED TO SEE HIM I JUST LEFT FEELING UPSET AND ANGRY. ITS NOT WORTH HAVING THAT MUCH ANGER IN YOUR LIFE.
