I felt the same way -- as it turns out, youth has an instinct that compells them to fit in. Consequently, wanting to impress, wanting to be popular, and wanting to change in order to shoulder the burden of puberty is a totally normal lifestyle.
At some point, youth matures and that instinct isn't as strong, and people start to develop their own personalities, even trying to stand out, as standing out is what gets you ahead in college and in the business world.
Don't worry about it for now. Wear whatever clothes you want to wear, and instead of focusing on changing your personality, find ways that you can use who you are already to fit in, and find methods of fitting in that blend with your personality.
Having your own personality, morals and speed at which you want to live (i.e. avoiding peer pressure if you feel friends are moving to fast with boys/drugs, etc.) is very important in this period of your life. Don't try to give yourself up to be popular, but don't feel bad if you feel like you're "changing" too much - you are always who you are, that's a fact, and who you are right now or who you will be in the next five years is not who you will be forever.
We've all changed since we were 13, and if we hadn't, then it would be a really hard world to live in! :)

well, in reality, the 8th graders will be big and scary and probably not impressed at all or at least pretending not to be. they will be too focused on themselves to notice little people coming in. go out for ice cream, or just call your friends. have fun imagining what jr. high will be like. enjoy summer!

In the most polite sense, you already seem pretty snobby.
