Usually I keep a close eye on the litter box and scoop the contents out with a large plastic spoon, then fling the contents out of my 5th-story apartment window. However, after nailing a cyclist, three pedestrians and a taxi cab, the police stopped by and told me I couldn't do that anymore. So, how else should I clean my litter box?

Just throw the cat out the window and then you won't have to clean it at all! Jk

You have a few options, assuming you aren't going to get rid of the cat:

1. Teach a cat to use the toilet. Good luck with that.: http://www.thecatconnection.com/page/TCC/PROD/LTR-PAN/LTR-4350

2. You can get one of those automated litter boxes that scoop for you, but you will still have to dispose of the bag.: http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441813164&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302047564&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023690&bmUID=1152215197272&itemNo=5&In=ALL&N=2047564&Ne=2

3. You can do it the old fashioned way by keeping all your plastic grocery bags and scooping the waste into that daily, then tossing it. If odor is a problem and you can't put the waste outside until trash day, then I'd suggest purchasing a Diaper Genie and emptying that once a week. It should keep the odors down. : http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441780636&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302047564&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023690&bmUID=1152215197291&itemNo=11&In=ALL&N=2047564&Ne=2

4. You can also go the extra mile by disinfecting the litter box once a week. We have 2 cats at our house. We empty the litter daily (using the aforementioned grocery bags), and disinfect the box with Pine Sol every weekend. Every few months, purchase a new litter pan. The plastic on those litter boxes gets corroded from all the ammonia.

5. There is a litter box you can buy that rotates. It has a catching scoop built into it. You just revolve the pan, and then remove the scoop and dump it. There are cheaper versions, but here is a link to one: http://www.litter-robot.com/default.aspx?ac=1?source=gaw08

You've had some great answers here. I do a couple of different things to keep my cats happy: I use the litter intended for small spaces, in a hooded litter box, with the liners. You pick up the liner, shake out the good stuff, and throw the dirty liner in your average plastic shopping bag. And since you are in a small area, I would recommend a diaper genie or something like that. I used my son's once he was out of diapers. You could probably find one at a rummage sale! It works wonders!

not sure if you are kidding or not? anyway, i use plastic grocery bags. when i go grocery shopping i ask for double bags and only keep the ones that have no holes in them after i unpack everything. store them in a draw or cupboard or somewhere near the litter box. i clean mine boxes twice a day and i scoop litter in to a grocery bag tie it up and put it on the balcony until i'm ready to go down to the trash. i even ask the grocery bagger if i can have some extra bags. don't throw it out window as this is a health issue.

It also helps to have a litterbox with a cover on it. It's not too expensive, it looks like a little dog house with a swinging door, but it is for litter. My cat loves his! It's his private place and it keeps the room from smelling icky. We still scoop the litter and discard daily, but maybe the cover would help you.

Oh, and stop flinging cat excrement at people, they may start retaliating in kind.

I would say do it like most normal people do. Scoop it out DAILY and place the contents in a plastic bag which you will tie after doing so, and throw it away with the rest of your garbage! I would hope you didn't just sling it out the window because that is just NASTY!

You have really got to be kidding !!!??? When you scoop the contents out of the litter box..., throw them in a plastic bag... tie the bag..and throw it in your garbage can, preferrably a garbage can outside the house.

You can get these automatic cleaning ones that will scoop it and keep it a bottom tray and then you just have to dump that every couple days (supposedly).

Or you can get another thing they have that keeps it stored in a container, kind of like a diaper disposal, and it makes it so it doesn't stink.

Or scoop and flush. :-)

That is just NASTY to throw it out your window. How would you like it if someone threw cat poo on your head? Do what the others have suggested. Keep your grocery plastic bags and use those. I always double bag them to keep the smell within the bags.

you're doing properly. he's not operating away once you're petting him so as that is a competent signal. He likely likes it yet because that he likely had a not ordinary beginning (that could clarify his initial shyness) he would not opt to confess it. He needs to teach you the way self sufficient he's and that he would not choose your interest. in case you proceed now to not push his obstacles to the point the position he runs away, then he will come round and do not ignore that being weak isn't a nasty element to be with you. merely provide it time. i wish this facilitates and also you may relish one yet another's corporation.
