Adam had two wives. Eve and Lilith. Lilith refused to submit to Adam and was kicked out of the garden. Lilith then went off to become a female demon. Eve submitted to Adam and became his little loving wife and made it into the bible.

Lillith was his first wife, according to the Hebrew Torah. She had a problem with not being on top, and Adam refused to be on the bottom, so she dumped poor clueless Adam. It was a classical power struggle. No, I'm not kidding, that's the story.
