Since there is evidence that Muhammad borrowed other religious material when writing the Quran, the Quran is invalidated as being pure revelation from God. Wouldn't that make the Quran a deception and Muhammad an impostor?

He didn't write it. Allah sent it to him, and he told it 2 other ppl and they wrote it, kinda like typing with a microphone or keyboard. Besides, Islam teaches that The other holy writings were true at first, but over time, the meaning to them was lost. And no offense, but didn't Christian monks vote to use the Torah for the old testament? And lastly, but still no offense, didn't they also vote on what material (poems, stories, etc.) to make the bible from about 300 years after Jesus? Cuz there's a Christian history of the bible website ( i don't remember the name, but u might be able 2 check wikipedia and/or google) that says that and that all other copies of what should have been used as the bible burned to prevent ppl using those.

No. The Quran is the word of God and no other human being can produce a single chapter like the chapters of the Quran.
The verses in the Quran even mention future events which later came to pass, for example the victory of the Romans over the Persians. Let me just explain another verse: pls read carefully,
in the Quran God speaks about the stages of a man embryonic developement. This verse stated in the Quran says

'We created man from an extract of clay. Then we made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then we made the drop into an alaqah(leech, suspended thing, and blood clot)' then we made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed substance) Quran 23:12-14.

Alaqah has 3 meanings-leech, suspended thing and blood clot.
In comparing a leech to an embryo there are similarity between the two. Also, embryo at this stage obtains nourishment from the blood of the mother, similar to the leech which feeds on others.

The second meaning is suspended thing-this means the suspension of the embryo, in the womb of the mother.

The third meaning of the word alaqah-blood clot. it is found that the external appearance of the embryo and its sacs during the alaqah stage is similar to that of a blood clot. This is due to large amounts of blood present in the embryo during this stage. Also the blood in the embryo does not circulate until the end of teh third week. therefore the embryo at this stage looks like a blood clot.

The next stage is the mudghah meaning 'chewed substance'. if one were to take a piece of gum and chew it in their mouth and compare it to an embryo at mudghah stage, the embryo is similar in apearance to a chewed substance. This is because of the somites at the back of the embryo that somewhat resemble teeth marks in a chewed substance.

So how could Muhammed PBUH have known all this abot 1400 yrs ago, when scientists have only recently discovered this using advanced equipment and powerful microscopes which did not exist at that time...

Also Professor Emeritus Keith L Moore is one of the worlds most prominent scientists in the field of Anatomy and embryology, in one of his conferences he has said: 'It has been a great pleasure for me to help clarify statements in the Quran about human developement. It is clear to me that these statements must have come to Muhammed from God, because almost all of his knowledge was not discovered until many centuries later. This proves to me that Muhammed must have been the messenger of God.
When he was asked 'Does this mean that you believe in the Quran as the word of God, he replied I have no difficulty in accepting this'.

There are things such as these which you do not know about the Quran, if you opened your mind a bit you will realise.

If are cemented in your beliefs, then you shouldn't be asking questions to find the truth since you assume you have the truth and are all ready brainwashed and told what the truth is, thus do not think. If the message of the Old Testament, New Testament, and the Holy Qur'an is from the same God, wouldn't they have similarities?

What makes you think Christian beliefs weren't borrowed from earlier religions? That is a topic I think you should do some research in.

Stop attacking other religions & seek true enlightenment.

fyi - I am a Christian. Peace be unto you.

Well, since the new testament borrowed liberally from the old testament, and also from the Mythology of Mithra, does that invalidate the new testament?

If you read the entire Quran and then read the entire Bible, Torah and/or any other religious scripture, you will realize that the Quran has scripture that is not found in any other religious scripture of another religion, but the Quran itself is meant to be the final revelation in the series of revelations, started by the Torah and then the Bible.

I think most likely Muhammad was not an imposter because he was strongly against (Arab) racial pride and he preached to love your enemy and to never kill innocent people in war and to always show mercy to those who surrender, all of these things take an extremely high level of intelligence to understand that not following these teachings is what always leads nations to failure throughout history, and his high level of discipline in his daily life was another example that he was either one of the most disciplined, intelligent, wise men in history or was truly what he claimed to be, which was that all his wisdom came from revelations from God in a cave that he seeked refuge in from the savagery of his brethren.

I personally have no religion, because every religion has been corrupted by its followers and religions in general divide us, in that there is only one "book of truth/wisdom" but religions are an example of the many versions of it, but we need to decipher the many versions to combine the wisdom in them into one "book of truth/wisdom" and disregard the bigotry in books of religions.

The reason why humanity is so foolish in that it builds all these powerful weapons to kill each other and the reason why humanity continues to be ruled by corrupt people is because we are divided over religion and race and don't realize that in the end we will all realize that we are all humans and that we need to unite in the name of wisdom instead of race, nation, religion, social-class, and etc. If the rich truly understood their stupidity in being rich they won't be rich and realize that they are in constant worry and/or depression because they are doing everything against the wisdom of the ages, which is that too much wealth leads to decadence and that excess wealth is to be distributed to the poor in order to avoid decadence and not for the sake of influence over the poor, because that leads to corruption and rejection by the poor when they find out the real reason for being given charity.

It's sad that we didn't learn from the 20th century that religion and communism lead us to the verge of destruction and that human wisdom prevails over religion and communism, because today all the religions and communism itself have failed but wisdom never fails, for religion and communism might become arrogant but wisdom never preaches arrogance, because it is a part of the history of humanity that we have learned that arrogance is a great folly that leads to many problems.

Being that the previous materials would also be from God, I don't see how that would disqualify him.

Best wishes.
