Just make sure to reserve the hall in advance and plan the Vegas wedding around that date. Otherwise, your wedding and reception could be months apart.

Good luck!

AngrySanta says... It's actually a great idea, it let's all your friends and relatives be a part of your wedding and is a great way to formally announce your marriage. Much better than spending the next 3 months with people coming up to you saying “Hey, what’s with the ring? Did you get married?”

At the stanard wedding and reception you usually find out only about half to three quarters of the people at your reception actually attended your wedding ceremony, so it’s a guilt free party for those types.

A great resource is below. It should also have tips on how to phrase your invitations.

That is a terrific idea, if my husband and I had eloped or had a really small ceremony we would have had a large reception too. People will really appreciate you including them in some way. If they ask you why then you could just be honest why did you decide to do it this way?

Good Luck and Congratulations!

I have actually been to a few of these. Some receptions are low key and some have been formal. Up to the couple to decide... this can work out great!!!

I went away for my wedding and I think it was the best thiung I ever did. When we got back we also had a reception and everyone was real happy with that because they were able to see pictures and they still got their free meal.

I was thinking about doing the same thing, so I see nothing wrong with it. The reception/party will be celebrating your commitment to each other. Congrats!

That's what my parents did... and they've been married for 35 years now!
My only suggestion might be not to wear a "wedding dress" (it might look a bit silly since the wedding ceremony had already happened). But really, it's up to you!

Good Luck!
