My daughter is invited to a birthday party for a little boy turning one and I'm clueless as to a gift.

For kids turning one, I often give them a toy cellphone. I always noticed that my nieces and nephews when they were that age were obsessed with their mom's cellphone or cordless phone and always wanted to play with it, so I thought they'd love having their own! I look for one that looks sort of realistic and makes noises when you push the buttons. All the kids I've given toy phones to loved them right away!

Anything that can help with the child's development. Anything Baby Einstein is wonderful! Or how about a toy that the child can use while standing up or while learning to walk. Fisher Price has some good ones. You, too, can never go wrong with books.

I just had this problem. I chose to get clothes. I remember all the clutter of toys my daughter got for her first birthday. Also maybe even something like a subscription to a book club or a dvd of baby einstein or something educational.

He's a baby, completely clueless as to his B-day party. Get him something his parents will be thankfull for....clothes. Get him a cute outfit. It shouldn't be more than 20-30 dollars!

Outfit, sippy cups, a hat for the summer time, swim suit, bath toys, maga lago, shampoo, bubble bath. You could make a Basket with some bath stuff and afew toys.

No stuffed animals, it will just end up collecting dust.

Lots of options!

You can get one of those wood puzzles with big shapes or cars.
You can get a big dump truck (Target has them for $10.00).
You can get a stuffed animal.
You can get one of those cellphone toys or other toys that has buttons, sounds, numbers, etc.
Fisher Price little people sets

lots of options from $3.00 to $30.00 or more.

good luck,
--Jeff, father of two sons age 2 1/2 and 6 months.

my son got two toys for his first birthday that i love and he still plays with them. you can get them at wal-mart or pretty much anywhere that sells toys. they are both under 20 bucks.

one is a plastic wagon that comes with the oversized lego blocks. he loves pushing and pulling it around. it's great for learning to stack and pulling apart.

the other is a ball shooter toy called the busy ball popper. it plays different music and pops plastic balls up in the air. of course, toddlers like to put all different kinds of toys in to see if they'll pop up. it requires batteries, so that's an added cost.

Just get him a little toy or clothes. When they're 1 the kid's themselves don't really care. Happy with anything.

No matter what you get him the box will be more entertaining than the actual present. You have known him for a year now hopefully you know what he enjoys doing...
Sports, games, books...
Go with the box...

Get a toddler swing...it's like $15.00 at walmart, it can hang from just about anything and is good up to 3 years old.
