Give them a special treat every time they make an unusual vocalization. They will soon start experimenting with sounds more often.

Usually, parrots are the birds that can be trained to talk very well. Parakeets are less smarter, so some parakeets may not be able to talk at all. But you can give it a try: Repeat something you want them to learn. Repeat it over and over and over again. Maybe one day they'll get the jist of it. But I wouldn't be too hopeful, because, as I said before, if you really want a smart, talking bird you should get a parrot.

You can buy a product called birdy wordy that you can record a word or short phrase onto then it will play over and over or if you have a continuous play cassette deck or now days burn a cd any of these devices works well but the bird will respond better if you are handling it frequently while playing the recording. Parakeets are not great talkers but it is possible. If you want a bird that talks well your best bet is an african grey but they are pricey indeed.

They can be trained to say a few words. Not as much as some of the larger parrots. It's not as clear either. They more copy the intonations of the words. It's more like they are whistling the word as opposed to saying it. They can be taught to whistle pretty easily. Mine used to wolf whistle. They learn from repetition. The more they hear something the more likely they will repeat it. They sell audio tapes that you can play for them. The tapes just repeat the same thing over and over again so the parakeet would repeat it.

Parakeets DO talk. You just have to train them. You have to talk around them a lot. If you don't have the enough time, leave a radio on (but make sure its a radio station that talks only). You can do this daily and they'll start to learn words they've heard from the radio.

if you have a lot of free time (especially in the morning, which is when they learn best), just keep repeating what you want it to say over and over. It'll want to be like you and eventually talk back. It takes FOREVER though and some birds will only want to learn one thing. (like my parakeet will only make the clicking sound that i make to get her attention. and nothing else that i try to teach her) Have Fun!!

i don't think that parakeets are the right bird for talking. parrots talk not the tiny ones. ok and if you do have a parrot you can simply buy books that teach you how to train them. i know my friend taught his parrot by repeating something over and over and when the parrot said it he rewarded it with a cookie. good luck.

of corse they are going to study a thanks to love you this may be slightly lengthy even if it truly works first getting 2 birds at the same time become not a strong what you ought to've finished (for further refrance) is were given one bonded with is and get yet another one about 2 months later birds seem to bond a lot less with you even as there is yet another fowl round. next cage evidence your toys make positive there are not any mirrors and in case you don't need to start up breeding take out all issues which will be mistaken for a nest additionally they receives very aggressive even as attempting to nest start up to take your birds out yet purely one after the different set a particular time on a daily basis for each fowl like take a million out interior the morning a million interior the afternoon in case your birds chunk problematic use a towl or glove till they get to carry close you and could not chunk even as a fowl bites problematic i do 2 issues both hit the fowl gently on the top or carry the fowl for a wanted time the full 2 maximum significant issues for bitting is a million. do not teach concern 2. do not provide in(like putting a fowl back interior the cage even as it bites) teach them that your are their flock chief ultimately i want to bathe my birds interior the sink they love the lucwarm water that's extra acceptable then in simple terms spraying them with a sprig bottle -desire this enables

I've had parakeets for 18 years and I've never been able to teach mine to talk..I've always said '' hello'' over and over...timeless...then i asked a vet....a parakeet's tongue has to be cut for it to be able to pronounce a word even clear enough for it to be audible, cut in a way that makes it a '' fork'' tongue and a vet is the only one that can do it and its usually done when the bird is very young. i have 5 parakeets and i wouldn't do that to mine just to hear'' hello''.....love my birds....
