other denominations of Christianity keep insisting that Catholic, etc. are not Christians?
I am a born again Christian, I use to be a Church attending Catholic (but I had not accepted Christ as of yet), I didn't believe in everything they do (praying to Mary, praying to Saints, all the statues, etc.) however, there are, as in every denomination, very sincere followers of Christ and fakes. Even strictly CHRISTIAN Born again non-denomination has fakes.
I think the current Pope is trying to turn that around now. He is putting a huge emphasis on Jesus now, God Bless him!!
We are not the judges here, so why do we keep doing this? My opinion is that when judgement day comes, there are going to be followers who are from many denominations going to be with God. The criteria will be that they love Jesus Christ and invited him to be their Saviour and are striving to be like Christ. Those that are fakes or that intentionally twist the WORD, well, God will be their Judge

bigbabysweets81 ....your right, and that is the part I don't agree with, having said that, there are some Catholics that truly love Jesus and are aware that only he can save you.

mama gretch ..... I agree, religion is a bunch of crap...the relationship with Christ is what is needed. Religion is why there is so much bad mouthing, I am only saying that some of every denomination truly follow only Jesus Christ as there saviour. You can't sterotype.

The logic of your argument is musical in its beauty.
To a Christian, regardless of what church they attend if any, the entire point of Scripture, and of prayer, and of the Catechism, and of any churches, is to find Christ.
As C.S. Lewis wrote in his introduction to "Mere Christianity", it is fruitless to say whether one is or isn't a Christian. One can certainly be a bad Christian, as well as a good one, but ultimately only the Lord can discern the state of one's soul.
Blessings in Christ,

I think that the reson many denominations of Christianity don't acknowledge the Roman Catholic Church as being Christian is because unfortunately, it's not. The Catholic church was founded by emporer Constantine, not Jesus Christ for starters. Some of the practices are completely unscriptural too. For example, only Jesus can cleanse us and forgive us our sins, not a priest in a confessional. Praying to the saints and Mary is a direct violation of the first commandment. Making statues and bowing before them is in direct violation of the second commandment. The Catholic church also believes it is good works that earns your way to Heaven, rather than the blood of Christ being sufficient alone. Mary is not the Queen of Heaven, like they may subtly try to impose on the Catholics. God doesn't share His glory with anyone, including the woman He used as the vesel to come into this world. God bless you for finding Jesus, and I hope I was able to clarify things a bit for you.

I agree with you but the pope can put Christ in the front of everything He says but if you become a catholic you have to pray to the dead, go to confession, use a rosary, and some believe there is no salvation outside the catholic church, and ive heard this from leaders themselves. The Christ talk is on the surface just as with mormons and Jehovahs witnesses but if you join them it gets into their beliefs thats not biblical. As far as judging e can judge as long as its with a merciful heart and not a condeming heart, study the word judge in mathew 7:1. God didnt say to not judge but if you judge you will be judged of the same, basically if you cant take it dont dish it out We are also told to judge righteously, John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. I agree with all what you had to say and maybe i misunderstood you which is why i wanted to clarify somthing.

I don't think you know very much about Catholic theology. All true Catholics accept that Christ is God. Thus, in Catholicism, nothing trumps Jesus Christ (i.e. God). The fact that Catholics pray to Mary and to the Saints doesn't mean that they venerate Mary or any Saint as God.

Catholic are Christian. They are in fact the first Christian Church founded by Jesus and the disciples. Catholics don't pray to Mary and the saints because they think the saints and Mary can save them, they pray to them because they are close to God and ask them to pray to God for them. Its like asking a friend to pray for you. And whats wrong with having a statue to remind you of someone? Are you against the cross with Jesus on it? I see nothing wrong with reminding people what he had to endure. All Catholics know that we receive God's mercy through Jesus his Son. Did you ever actually listen at mass?

Who cares what others call or do not call Catholics? Every little denomination believes that only they are right, that everyone else is wrong and won't be "saved!" It's a sign of arrogance and pride that is supposed to be against the tenets of Christianity, if I'm not mistaken! I was raised a Catholic and knew that many others didn't agree with their beliefs, but I was happy with mine, so what! Now I know it's all BS and I'm happy not having anything to do with "organized" religion. Call me what you want! I'm not going to change your mind and you're not going to change mine!

the whole problem is not about Christ or believing in Him, but rather what does it mean to follow him? You said that is what counts, so what you should be asking is DO CATHOLICS FOLLOW CHRIST?
Many people say they believe in Christ...but do they actualy follow him, and more importantly what does it mean to say that a person follows Christ?
Lets read the bible:
Acts 2 37-42
37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and they asked Peter and the other apostles, "What are we to do, my brothers?" 38 Peter (said) to them, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is made to you and to your children and to all those far off, whomever the Lord our God will call." 40 He testified with many other arguments, and was exhorting them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand persons were added that day. 42 They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers.
Have Catholic repented? Yes!
Have Catholics been baptised? Yes!
Do Catholics devote themselves to the teaching of the apostles? Compare the first century catechetical teachings with todays. Yes!
Do Catholics devote themselves to the communal life, that is the sacramental life? Yes!
Do Catholics devote themsevles to the breaking of the bread aka the Euchrist? Yes!
Do Catholics devote themsevles to the prayers, that is the liturgy and the daily prayers? Yes!

Good point. I guess it is just a pride issue. Do Catholics introduce themselves as a Christian or Catholic first?
