I used to b sk8ter but now i wanna go gothic and my stepdad disapproves it. But im mad cuz it makes me think that he doesnt like who i am. he hated it when i was already sk8ter and every thing but thats who i am!

Teens should try out lots of looks and styles to find out who they want to be and how they want to dress. Just know when to leave the costumes behind and be yourself. When you see twenty somethings still wearing their teen stuff, you feel bad that they never grew up.

You do whatever you want to do with your life. Don't let some pushy unaccepting stepdad push you into being some perfect little angel. If you want to be a goth, go for it. That's part of your personality and a way to express yourself. If he can't accept that than he's a bad example in your life.

Why the change? Is this a personal choice, or is it influenced by your friends. If it's the second one than your step dad is probably concerned about your susceptibility to peer pressure. If this is a choice you've made for yourself, it might not hurt to sit down with him and explain why you want to make this style/lifestyle change for yourself. The more he knows, the better he will take it and get off your case.

You shouldn't have to be anything, but yourself. Skater, Goth, Prep. Don't hide behind a click. Your stepdad probably just wants you to figure out who you are, rather than letting other people decide for you.

You be who you want to be, he should realize that its a phase, just like he did not like the sk8r in you, you still did it and he eventually was OK with it. Parents just get freaked out when their kids change. Be who you are, and you will see in time it will all be OK. Remember, Don't let anyone try and change you, you are what makes you, you.
