You can, if you are ready for it. You really should be talking with your mother or a trusted older female friend. If you don't have a female figure to discuss this with, then let your guardian know that you would like to see a gynecologist for your first female exam. And you can talk with them and ask any further questions you may have. They can help you choose the right fit for you and explain the differences.
I started my period on my 11th b-day, and started using tampons after my first period during the summer and I couldn't go swimming with my friends. I started with the slender for comfort, but my periods were so heavy that I quickly had to move up to the regulars or supers, or spend all my time in the rest room.
As for brands they all work differently and all I can say is trial and error. Everyones' body shape is different so some may be more comfortable than others for you. Remember do not to sleep in them (if left in, can cause toxic shock syndrome and/or bacterial infections, though both are rare, it does happen) and be sure to change them about every hour if you don't have to do so sooner.

And definitely don't listen to people like PR, dude? put saliva on it...lol...that was bad.

umm... whats a tapon?

If what you meant was a tampon, then no you shouldn't try it. First off, it's going to be very uncomfortable and i don't think your body can handle that right now. It's going to have to break through some tissue inside of your vagina to be inserted correctly. You will not like it at all. It hurts a lot to break that tissue. Just wait sweetie, when you get older, then you can worry about it. For now, jus enjoy being a kid.

Talk to your mother. I don't think a 11 year old will know how to use a tampon. I didn't start using them till I was 20, so you should use a pad. There are so many pads out there that are comfortable so, just go shopping with your mom or a older girl cousin.

Yes, there are different sizes. Tampons are cleaner than feminine napkins. I'm sorry you started your menses at such a young age. I think the youngest I've seen is 9. Have a great day.

Where is your mother or the person taking care of you? No, you should not wear tampons at the age of 11.

Why would you need a tampon at 11? You've got a couple of more years to go I would imagine. And when the time comes talk to your mum, not Yahoo Answers strangers.

My daughter tried this at the age of 13 and was in a lot of pain.
I would wait until either you become sexually active or are ready for masturbation. I would think at this point you would be to tight.

I think you can although it might hurt since you are a virgin. I would recommend talking to mom to make sure. Just remember if you do, not to leave it in for the whole day because of that toxic shock syndrome.
