"It is estimated that a family that has a child in 2004 will spend close to $250,000 dollars raising that child over the next 17 years, and this does not take into account the costs of college"
Does anyone really think that 3 minutes of sex is really worth it. Personally I wouldn't know.
The quote is from Access To Health (9th Ed), by Rebecca J Donatelle

Actually abstance is very easy when hardly anyone considers you attractive, 22 years and still going for me. Not by choice. Woot.

FYI, according to this source, the average duration humans have sex is about 2 minutes. I just put 3 to be fair. I wouldn't know myslef though.

So many things to address here. Keep the dime, though.
Yes, a child is absolutely worth it. Most of the money that goes into taking care of a child is money that you would have spent anyway, or in a much less productive way. Of course, some of that money doesn't come directly from the parents either, but resources that are used to sustain our society: taxes paid to support education, the collective family, et cetera.
Now.. onto more important things... 3 minutes... it is usually a bit longer... if you're doing it right.
You wouldn't know? Is that the reason your avatar looks so sad? Do you need some lovin'? If so, I hope you get it.
Oh. oh. Question for you. If I've raised my 13 1/2 year old and only spent a total of $149,000 on her so far, does this mean I am raising a bargain/discount child? Cause she's priceless!!

The funny thing about parenting is that when you go shoe shopping and get that one extra pair (because you have a child) you don't really think about it. You love your kid and your kid needs shoes that fit, end of story. When you're doling out the mac & cheese and burgers, you're not really tallying up the cost of the extra portions. Your kid is hungry too and you don't even need to think about that either. Let me tell you......most people, if they did not have a kid, would fritter away 250,000 in the 17 yr period as "disposable income", some in big ways and some in a 17-yr series of small ways (season tickets, trips to belize, hot cars, great techie gadgets, whatever). I can't begin to imagine that anything, or even a whole lot of anythings, is worth that 250K more than my kid is. She adds more to my life than anything that can be bought with that amount of money, or any amount, ever could. I'm a better person for her being in the world, she justifies my existence in a way that requires no explanation. The very thought of her takes my breath away but that I actually have her is the most beautiful and humbling feeling. No amount of money can touch that.
They only laid out the cost in that article.......they forgot about the benefit analysis.

Yes it is! What else is money going to be used for? Why work so much and not have anyone to share it with or spend it on? That's just how I feel. I know there are a lot of different things that you can spend money on, but those won't last forever. Families are fovever.

Condoms are so much cheaper! lol No really its scary how much it costs. I almost just want to start randomly buying diapers to store for the future! Its awful!!!!! I really want kids, but the only scary thing is the cost. I dont want to look at a little baby and see dollar signs. Thats why I always buy something cute, and then include a gift card to Target for baby showers. They're gonna get tons of Onsies.... they need diapers and formula! lol

Who said it only takes 3 minutes of sex to create a life? Even if that were true, yes, it is worth it. When your child says "mommy" for the first time, tells you that you are "pretty & beautiful" and tells you that he loves you and gives you kisses and hugs every day, it's worth it! Every day that your child learns something new it's worth it. Having your child scream across the house only to tell you he loves you is worth it!
Yes, 3 minutes of sex is really worth it.

Well.. still people do it so probably money is not much concern.. I guess its a personal choice and not 3 minutes of "mistake" as u say it.
If everyone thought that way then what would happen to human race? Personally, I don't give a damn either.

The emotional rewards far outweigh the financial burden of raising a child. Children are a lot of hard work, and expensive, but they are SO much fun, and....food for thought - when you are old and grey, and have nobody else in this world, you will always have your children.

i don't think it is worth it because there are so many different health risks that u take when u have sex and having a child only complicates it more. Abstinence isn't easy, but neither are u!!!!!!!
