My husband had a lump on his back - it's still there actually. He went to the doctor and they did an MRI to be sure, because his mother died of cancer about 2 and a half years ago. They said that it was a sebacious cyst. This is basically a very deep pimple that doesn't come to the surface and go away like a normal pimple would. Sometimes these deep oil glands get clogged and a lump forms.
Since you said that this is at the top of his neck, I'll bet that it's a clogged pore - oils from his hair, etc. could have clogged it. The nausea could just be him being worried about what it could be - anxiety can do a lot.
Don't be freaked out if they say that they want to do an MRI or something similar - that means that you have a good doctor who's playing it safe.
Hope everything is alright!

its not that big of a deal baby. This is her boyfriend. She described it perfectly. and it feels exactly that way. no matter how many neck and back rubs she gives me it never does away.I talked to a few people i know.and my grandma said it might be a infected gland or something. which she said its not that big of a deal i guess. But, I don't want to go to a doctor to seem and feel like a wimp and just get told its nothing bad. And then i dint want her dad to see me for the first time and think im a baby. So, and besides, its just a bump right? Maybe it only hurts because its pushing up into my skin? And maybe its just getting bigger because its taking more and more blood cells and stuff and growing bigger and bigger? Is that a possibility? Please at least just say something that will make her feel better. Please. Something she wants hear. Im fine baby. I swear.

Lumps in that area are fairly common but glad to hear he is going to the doctor soon. It may have made him nauseous because of all the nerves at the spine. If he hasn't made an appointment yet, tell him to call the doctors office and tell them about it and they will determine how quickly he needs to be seen. Tell them if he has had any illnesses recently. It may be just a viral infection--DON'T project that it is cancer! Get it checked.
