I have naturally curly hair that gets really dry if I shampoo too much. I bought a moisturizing shampoo that I haven't used yet. My mom uses a cleansing shampoo and then a moisturizing and then conditioner. Any thoughts on this? If you have greasy straight hair that you have to shampoo everyday then don't waste your time answering this unless you're a stylist. I'm worried that if I just use the moisturizng it won't remove all the buildup, but i'm not sure.

no, but this might work:

Over time shampoos and conditioners can leave a build up
in your hair

Here is a homemade recipe for a build up remover:

Use any shampoo you have on hand, and mix about 2-3 tablespoons
of the shampoo with the same amount of baking soda.

Use more for longer hair, but keep the amount of shampoo
and baking soda the same.

Mix both in a small bowl.
Apply to hair, then rinse well after the application.

Use this treatment about once a month.

No, you won't remove all the buildup with a moisturizing shampoo. And I wouldn't shampoo twice. When my hair was permed, I would mix a moisturizing shampoo with a clarifying shampoo and this seemed to take care of both problems. Just make sure you have a good, rich conditioner to prevent dryness.

No a moisturizing shampoo will not remove buildup. I use a nuetralizing shampoo once a month to remove buildup from my scalp. I have three different shampoos as well as three types of conditioners that I rotate every so often.

I don't believe it will, what I do for build-up believe it or not is Head and Shoulders, I have very wavey almost curly hair and it's so dry and my scalp is also very dry and always has build up which causes flakes when I blow dry or straighten. I started using Head & Shoulders 2 weeks ago and it's made a noticable difference. It says on the bottle to use at least twice a week to get good results, I use it like 3-4 times a week. So I'm hoping that as I continue to use it I will eventually have no build up and they have now varities for different types of hair and they smell good.

So I say give it a shot!! Good luck!

Cool, I never heard of that baking soda, I'm going to try it cuz it sure is cheaper!

I am not a stylist, but I have found something that removes buildup. Baking Soda. Try a couple Tbs. in a cup of warm water. Work it into your hair then rinse. You can actually feel the buildup of gunk leave your head. Really try it. It's GREAT and CHEAP.

i take advantage of Cibu hair products! they're staggering! they offer my hair useful shine and alot of moisture! My hair is truly thick and Cibu products truly help me with straightning my hair so as that it dosent frizz, i like it! A 13.5 oz.. bottle of shampoo runs about 16.00 and conditioner is about 13.00! They sense expensive and smell staggering that is why i like the cost!
