Try crate training. Sounds too contained, but dogs like them. They feel secure. They also don't like soiling where they live.

So, this is what you do:

After you feed the dog, wait about 5 minutes and immediately take him or her out to go. When the go, you say "good dog".

You have to do that every time they eat or drink. Don't wait any longer that 5 minutes or it won't work.

When you leave the house, put the dog in the crate. Do it every time you leave the house. They may soil the area the first time or so, but then they won't. Make sure it is the right size crate. You don't want it too big or too small. Talk with the pet store about it. The dog will like the crate over time. My dog used to go into the crate to sleep when we didn't put him in there. It's cozy.

Don't put down paper. That is paper training them, not training them to only go outside.

If you want to paper train them, then do the same thing as above, only take the dog to the paper instead. Set the paper up away from the bed and the food.

I person would not paper train them, though. You don't want them going to the bathroom in your house at all.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMPZJ

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Some will suggest caging your pup. You can paper training your pup then slowly move the paper to the door. You can also keep an eye on your dog and take the pup out about every 20 minutes and take the pup out after it drinks or eats. I know the last one is a challenge, but at least you get to know your pup and your pup gets to know you. If you don't have the time you will have to cage your pup.

Do exactly what Sandra B said!
My dogs go through training and obedience classes,
but that doesn't mean they get housebroken immediately!
