I've been using LoEstrin 1.5/30 for YEARS. It's a mono-phasic pill (one chemical all month long) and works best for me personally because I don't respond well (too many side effects) from tri-phasic pills (different chemical every week).
Each person is different however, so it will be between you, your doc & your body. You should see your OB/GYN and discuss your issues with him/her.
BTW, the shot is a wonder of modern medicine (I used that for a few years as well).

I just got on ortho tricyclen Lo. It is a low horomone dose. It has a lot less side effects then most birth control. I changed to it b/c of unwanted side effects of the patch. I've been on it for 2 months now and I love it. I feel like me again. The only down side to it is that you really need to take it at about the same time everyday b/c of the low amount of horomones ot it can make you have some spotting, especially in the first month. But, it is a good choice!

ok first u need to figure out if you can remember to take the pill every day. if not opt for either the weekly patch or the shot if u can handle the needles. but don't just go without or you'll end up prego again. as for gaining weight you'll gain more if u get preg. talk to ur ob. but they won't give you anything if u r breastfeeding.

I was on YASMIN for a while. It is a daily pill, and worked great for me. It is advertised to not make you retain water, or gain weight. Maybe check it out.
Here is a link.

The Copper IUD. It doesn't have any hormones. You don't have to remember to take something everyday. It last 10 years. There's just so much more to it! I love it!
