Aroun the start of teenage years. That would be 13. You would'nt want your kids to be left out so this age should be fine.

These days it seems to be accepted at younger and younger ages. But mentally someone 10, 11, 12 years old isn't up for the emotions, conflict and heartbreak that a relationship can cause. Sexual activities including oral sex is also the vogue for younger and younger kids. It's scary. My neighbors daughter lost her virginity at 14, was living with her boyfriend at her mom's house(engaged to the guy, with a wedding date) by 15 and was dumped unceremoniously when she was 16. Don't think she isn't a bit messed up.
Make them wait until they're 16 to date and then make sure you've talked to them openly and honestly about what behaviors you believe are right or wrong. DON'T tell them of your past exploits thinking that will deter them. My friend did that and you can see how well that worked. Know the guy or girl they are dating and the family. Take an active role in your kids life.

there are different stages of this boyfriend/girlfriend thing
my 10 year old came home once telling me about his girlfriend, and I was like 'girlfriend'?
It's just a way that the kids pair up to investigate and familiarize themselves. I asked if he kissed her and he blaintenly told me "Moooom....I'm only TEN!" which put me at ease.
But the rejection is no less painful when they "break-up".
I think it's healthy to have these mock pairings, as long as there's not an inordinate amount of attention, time and money spent.
Serious relationships should not really be permitted until 16 17 &18. After that, it's out of your hands.

Well if the kid really likes someone that he/she has told you ask how old this person is. If the person the kid likes is more than 4 years older don't let them but is it's like less than 4 yers of age difference let the kid have the boyfriend or boyfriend because if you tell them the age they don't want to hear they won't listen to you because you told the kid they can't do something that they want to do then they will want to do it a whole lot more and maybe even do something worse.

I think that kids should maybe be 13/14yrs old or older. I think kids should focus on their education first and relationships second.
