I need to know average monthly costs for prescriptions related to bipolar disorder (not co-pay, but amount if you had no insurance). Please tell me monthly cost & how many different prescriptions that relates to.

I was trying to compare costs on several different insurance plans vs. prescription amounts without insurance. (No need to fear medication won't be taken - just doing a cost analysis). Thanks for all the information!

A lot less than being in the hospital.

Mood stablizer: $200 and up

If you need an anti psychotic: $200 and up

If you need an anti depressant: @ $150 and up.

Get insurance!

I have one client whose meds cost $1300 per month...still cheaper than $400 plus per day at the psych hospital and far cheaper than a wrecked life.

Depends on the drug. Usually its two drugs to be taken simultaneously, like Depakote ( a mood stabilizer) and Respiradol (an anti-psychotic) sometimes a third drug is thrown in the mix in the event that one of the others causes a "low" or "high" effect... The cost depends, again on the milligram dosage of each, etc. Easily could be somewhere between $150.00 to $200.00 per moth- this is something a professional can tell you. Pharmacist or Psychiatrist...

Well a lot of those medicines are very pricey some about $180.00, but with co pay they could be around $10.00. Lets say that precription will last you 3 weeks (because your doctor may change your dosage) yeah it is going to be a whole lot of money!!! Over the web on some sites they do have them reduced in tiny bits, perhaps maybe for $160.00 but even with that plus Shipping and handling it is going to be a fortune you could say. Good luck!

My meds without insurance would cost me $152 a month. I'm sure there's more than one medication though, so talk to your doctor.

depends on what your MD prescribes
not every anti depressant is good for everyone
so costs vary between the meds conjoined with usually Dekakote
Zoloft is going to become generic.. so that will be more cost effective
