What really gets your goat when buying a vehicle? Is it the looking around, the comparing, pricing, sales people, dealerships, advertising? If you've had a bad or good experience, please share it. If you have a great idea that would make a purchase experience better, please share it.

Here's a short list of examples that I find frustrating.

1. Small selection of of models in stock.
2. Can't get a straight answer on price.
3. Dealers who try to change agreed on price.
4. Dealers that can't get the paper work right.
5. Phony or insincere sales people.
6. Unfriendly sales people
7. Sales people who apply to much pressure.
8. Dealerships that are inflexible in their approach.
9. The manipulative control processes.
10. Sales people who ask to personal questions.
11. Can't find a parking space at the dealer.

I think the most annoying thing (and this is mainly for the younger buyer) is not being respected. I once walked into the parking lot of a Jaguar Dealership and was looking at some vehichles, when a sales agent told me to leave. What nerve! I was self-employed at the time could of probably bought a vehicle in the near future but after that incident I wouldn't go back there.

When you are just looking around to price different vehicles and the sales person won't let you leave without test driving one.

Or when they ask you what other cars you are thinking about and then they totally nag on the other companies.

Or when they try to pressure you into buying the extended warranty even though it hardly covers anything worthwhile and will probably never be used.

The whole freaking negotiating process!!!! I especially hate salepeople who tell me what I want. I know what I want, I have the money. I agree with another answerer when they said "taking advantage of young people". My daughter got taken by a slick talking salesman.. yes it was a man. Oh yeah... ANY Toyota dealership. I hate the incessant callbacks even when you keep telling them "I am NOT interested".

I found a dealer in Georgia, I spec'd my cars on line, faxed him the sheets and he found exactly what I wanted. I bought a Cadillac and a new truck from him last year!!! I would NOT buy from anybody else ever.

It is the pushy sales men. They will say anything to get u to buy a car. I do know that if you know anyone that knows or works for a car dealer or did take them with you because when you know how do deal with these sales men you will end up getting a great deal more so if you do not have inside knowledge of how it works.

How the sales people treat you like you're stupid. Example: telling you that they are going to have a hard time selling the vehicle you are trading in. Yeah right!!!!!! And instead of using the Kelley Blue Book trade in value, they pull from some kind of auction pricing. How is that fair?

THE SALESPEOPLE! IF THEY AREN'T TRYING TO STEER YOU TOWARDS THE HIGH END VEHICLES THAT THEY WANNA SELL TO MAKE THE MOST COMMISION ON, THEN THEY ARE LYING THROUGH THEIR TEETH ABOUT WHAT IS WHAT. THIS IS NOW THAT I AM AN ADULT. I REMEMBER WHEN I WAS 18, A LONG TIME AGO, I WAS LOOKING AT AN OLDS 442. THE OWNER OF THE PLACE CAME OUT AND ASKED TO HELP ME AND I ASKED WHAT HE WANTED FOR THE CAR. HE TOLD ME TO GO GET MY DAD AND WE WOULD TALK. THE CAR WAS ONLY $3500.00. I HAD THE CASH IN MY POCKET AND TOLD HIM SO. THEN HE WS VERY NICE TO ME BUT I TOLD HIM TO KISS OFF AS I WOULDN'T GIVE HIM $.35 LET ALONE $3500.00. I WENT TO THE CHEVY DEALER AND BOUGHT A CHEVELLE SS INSTEAD.

The so called 'sales', the bogus interest rates and the overzealous salesmen. I used to work in the business and it's a cutthroat industry...try to buy used from an individual.

My grown kids, mostly. :D

No, the salespeople are a real pain in the butt - won't leave you alone for a minute. I realize that many of them count on their commissions as income--but they lose many customers by following them around like puppy dogs.
