I wouldnt spend anything that much!!! 16 years old should be getting cars that are worth $5,000 or less. First car should always be used, durable, and reliable. Let your kid learn how to take care of the car. $20,000 is a lot of money for a kid to ruin it.

American cars, as patriotic as I am, are not what is going to be best for a low income 16 year old. Toyota is a good company and I'm suprised nobody has mentioned Hondas prized Civic. I'm sure you can get one used for cheap, but the cute aspect might be pushing it. Not a big fan of pontiac's low cost cars

You need a small car. First you have to learn how to drive properly coz at 16 you're just a rookie, sorry to put it to you this way but that's the truth, we all are like that at first. Just by having a license doesn't mean you know how to drive, especially powerful cars. Buy a small cute 1 first...I'm European so I don;t know much about American cars, but those Japanese cars look cute.

I think you are in sales and don't know what to offer someone, so don't pretend to be 16 because if you where really 16 you would alredy know what car to get and most of all would not be stupid to waste $20,000 on a car. There are better things to spend money on at that age.

You should be able to find a good 2dr car for under 10000 used, for 20k you could buy new!
Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Cavaliar... Those are both models I have owned. They are reliable, fuel efficient, and very common so prices are reasonable.
Happy shopping!

Any honda civic from 1992 - 1997 Should do fine. Also you have Toyota corollas from 1993 and up which are pretty reasonable in price. both these models are very reliable and fuel efficient they usually range in price from $1800.00 and up very really will you see a seller ask for more than $7000.00 unless they are heavily modified with body kits and turbos and such.....

Well... I suggest a small car, easy to drive and with GOOOD gasoline mileage...
Toyota Scion XA (www.scion.com) is under 15,000 (tax included) and does 31 miles in city and 38 on highway.
or even better:
Toyota Yaris (www.yaris.com) is under 15,000 too (tax included) and does 34 miles in city and 39 on highway
and best of all they're both very safe to drive.
Test one.

A Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla would do just fine.
They have excellent fuel efficiency, solid engines and make great starter cars.
