I put my 2 when they were 1 1/2 old. They did fine

You need to start them no later then 2 years old....4 years is too old to still be in a crib. I have 2 girls 4 and 2 and like I said both were 1 and a half when they got their toddler bed...You just need to put guards up over the sides
If you have any question feel free to email me

It all depends on the child I would have to say because as of for us we had to put our daughter in a toddler bed before she was even 18 months old because she started climbing out and we figured it was better to have her in a toddler bed that is closer to the floor then keep having her climb out of her crib and have her get hurt from the higher fall then in a toddler bed and she is now 2 and the toddler bed has been great for her she hasn't had any problems in it yet.

I think the only real answer to this question is when the parent feels they are ready. A sure sign of being ready is the child is attempting to climb out of the crib. If the transitition is difficult, try having a toddler bed in there before taking away the crib. My daughter is over 2 and is still in her crib, but enjoys taking her naps on a toddler bed. However, often during her nap I'll check on her and her legs will be hanging off, so needless to say I don't think she's ready yet. When she is though, she'll be used to it!

My son started climbing out of his crib when he was 15 months old. I already had a double bed for him but decided that a toddler bed would be better at first for the simple fact that the double bed was very high off the floor.

It completely depends on your child and your family dynamics. If your child is crawling out of the crib, he should be moved to a toddler or adult bed so that he can't hurt himself climbing out.

We moved my older daughter to a regular twin bed when she was 20 months old because we needed the crib for our 3-month-old. Even then, we gave her over a month of transition time before moving the new baby into the crib. We had a rail on the bed, and she rarely got out on her own. She usually just called for us to get her just like she had done in her crib.

We moved my younger daughter into a double bed with my older daughter about a month ago when she was 19 months old. She was sleeping horribly in the crib, but slept better in our bed, so we thought she might do well with her sister. She still doesn't sleep well, but the girls enjoy sharing a bed.

Every child is different, so you have to figure out what works for you.

Let me make this easy if the child can climb out of his/her crib then it is time for a toddler bed. They are less likely to fall from any height in a toddler bed. most kids will roll on to their tummy's to get off the bed. they will go off feet first and slide till their feet hit the floor then they will be on their way. now if your worried about them getting up and getting in to stuff in the night I say use an baby monitor and baby proof your house if you haven't already. because ether way they will get out of their beds if they want to.
