When something is constantly 'Drummed' into you... It becomes tedious and a bore.
We look at religion, in the wrong way... it should be used as a guide/helpful option... NOT a MUST that we should fear; with our lives.
Look up the Gospel of st Thomas (the Catholic church are terrified of these writings and do their best to belittle/ridicule them... I wonder why?), It shows just how much we (Majority of the the worlds population) don't use our brains and believe everything we are told!
There are people/systems that earn a lot of money from manipulation... Would you believe them?

I think you should be very happy that the Bible is found in dollar stores. These days there are so many places that the word of God is banned. If a person can walk into a dollar store and get a Bible, that is wonderful! It does not seem degrading to me at all. I am just glad that the dollar store has enough balls to sell the Bible. Think of all those sad people out there who live in countries where there are no Bibles to be found or have been so unfortunate that they have never heard the word of God. God bless the dollar store!!!

Well I've always wondered bibles are found in some cheap hotels and why religious images are sold as curios. I don't like the idea of turning a religious icon into a souvenir - I think it cheapens the entire concept behind the icon. However I think that the intention of these vendors is to make the bible accessible to all (including those that can't afford a "real" bible) and to make a buck off it. I would not trust the context and accuracy of a cheap bible for obvious reasons. I think vendors should have more common sense when marketing religious items but consumers are also at fault.

No you are not the only one who finds this weird. However, you should look at the history of religion. Christianity and Catholicism have a history of converting people against their will... This dollar store thing is a way to continue that tradition, but in a far different manner. In this manner instead of saying Christianity is the best, perhaps they are trying to say Christianity is cheaper than other religions, or maybe even trying to say that it's the bad kind of cheap. I really don't know, but I do know this... Christians should find it offensive and boycott dollar stores, if they see fit, or do something to stop Bibles from being sold in those places.

THE WORD OF GOD should be available for the masses judge not less yee be judged. To wit I will not judge you on your appearance, but will make decisions based on your actions. The Bible is great book and perhaps some people will be saved by the dollar store buyers. Also Jesus hung out with the sinners and down trodden where else is a better place to inform the down trodden but the dollar store.

Good luck and god bless.

I noticed that! I wouldnt say it was degrading though. More of a 'catch you off guard' type of deal but not degrading, simply because Im guessing that they put them there for those who cant spring for a nice $20 Bible or something but still want to read it. I wouldnt buy a dollar store Bible personally but I wouldnt knock someone who did/would

Bibles range from $1 to hundreds of dollars depending on the publication costs and study tools included. I believe strongly in the Bible and I'm not offended that anyone can afford one.

I don't understand why the dollar stores selling Bibles would offend you. It is good that you can buy a Bible for $1.00. What you should be offend about is that even if people buy the Bible for $100 and lay it down and never study it. In the pages of that dollar store Bible is salvation. It tells you that the Lord Jesus Christ died for your sins. 2 Corinthians 5: 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

I am a born again Bible (AKJB) believing Christian. I see no problem in Bibles costing only a dollar. There are a lot of people who can't afford $20.00 or more for a Bible. In fact I will send a Bible to anyone who wants one free of charge.

Why ever should it be degrading to believers to see cheap Bibles?? The word of God has no price, and should be available to absolutely anyone who wants to read it.

It doesn't make any difference if its a leather bound, gold-plated edition, or a free edition found in a hotel room...its what in it that counts, not how its presented.

Yes, you are degrading poor people which is essentially everything that Christ believed in the weak and the poor, and you are degrading and being judgemental, I think its great that all can afford a copy of the Bible and it is to their benefit, so they who cannot afford can still have Gods word, God is not for the Rich, a rich man shall not go to heaven, are you saying that you have to be upper class to go to heaven that people who shop at dollar are not worthy?, because if you are that is not Christs teachings. We need to redirect ourselves to know that materials riches have no room in heaven, or the smug.
