Because people like to imagine that they are always right, and everbody else is always wrong. It's human nature. So they haveto be self-righteous and tell everybody else that they're wrong, whether they are or aren't.

If you ask a question, and the answers offend you, then it really isn't answers you're seeking, is it? Support for a particular viewpoint, an emotional band-aid, maybe just an opportunity to rant, but not knowledge. Even the answers that seem to make no sense serve to allow one to make judgements about the type of people who answer them here, or human nature in general. If you ask questions, and the answers perturb or confuse or disturb or annoy you, perhaps the best course of action for all concerned is not to ask them in the first place.
