i judge people by their actions and ethics and professionalism in the workplace over what kind of personal style they have.
as a personal preference, i don't like dreads or long hair on men but that's just me picking someone that could be a potential mate, not as a friend or coworker.
besides, why did you lose 10 points to ask that question if you're going to do it regardless?

If you want the other side of the coin...many people find them gross because it's obvious the hair is dirty. It collects dust, dander, cells, dirt, smells, oils, moisture, fuzzies, pretty much anything and everything. They can't be washed or combed regularly like normal hair. It's like wearing the same sweater everyday for weeks on end. Do you know how many dead hairs make up dreads? It's more professional to wear your hair short as to not be a distraction for people or mice who want to make a home out of your hair. The last part was a joke, but the rest is true. No one else will say the truth because they don't want to offend, but you're asking a legit question - so you get a legit answer. Remember - your question included the key word *professional*. If you want to be a DJ, wear a Mohawk and stretch pants, who cares. K?

Personally, I have no problem with dreads, just as long as no bugs are jumpin' out of 'em! I used to live in a Northern California Community that had many Rastifarians (?sp?) that took over the Health Food Stores as employees & their personal hygiene habits just weren't there! These guys had nasty dreads, smelled, & you could actually see the bugs crawling in their hair & on their face & necks. It was gross & you they may have left a permanent stigma on the way people view dreadlocks! As long as you are hygienically correct, then the rest shouldn't be a problem!

I see nothing wrong with it. It keeps the hair controlled and out of the way. I think it is a good idea. Especially in any medical profession. Dreadlocks will reduce the risk of hair falling out onto, or, worse still, into the patient. See, there is a practical need for it in your profession!!

In December of 2005, I went to the Barber and reduce my hair off, like a boy. I have not in any respect gotten extra interest from adult males. I have on account that enable it enhance in organic (for the third and extremely last time in my existence) and that i like it. I now have a proper 'fro that i'm getting compliments on daily from adult males and females. i imagine that is about me and my self belief. in the start, i become self-unsleeping and now, i like my hair so how can all of us else not like it? I have purely had one individual (an aunt) say she did not like my hair and that i advised her it turned right into a own situation and it had not something to do with me. Why might want to my hair have any outcome on all of us else? that is MY hair, not theirs. Black females can placed on their hair obviously and they might want to accomplish that with pride, even as they make the alternative. The extra positive they're, the extra positive others will be.

Times are changing and employers aren't as restrictive as they used to be and us regular (older) white people are desensitized to hairstyles that at one time we may have considered outlandish. Dread locks, as long as they are well maintained and if long, kept back from the face are perfectly acceptable. If you are neat, articulate, and intelligent, I'd hire ya.

punk babe is right ... out of your eyes is good.
The biggest factor for me is clean. Dread locks are not dirty and setting an example is always good. Show people that you are clean and professional -- and your own person.

A professional man with locs is the sexiest thing to me. If a person's hair is well kept it shouldn't matter what style it's in. Rock those Locs brotha...good luck with your journey.

I don't see any problem with dreads if there neat and clean and with a sheen to it. If there long you need to pull them back so they wont get in the way. Otherwise get dreaded.
