I am just wondering if anyone else thinks back on decisions they have made in the past that they would never make now and have guilt? I know this is a general question but I look back on a lot of things I have done that are not my proudest moments and I have major anxiety and stress due to it. Is this normal. Also, it has been over 3 years that most of these things took place yet I still can't forgive myself. Is anyone else tormented by their pasts? If so, how do you cope?

Until recently I never regretted anything. Nothing. Yes I have made some BAD mistakes in my past. But they made me who I am today. All of us our humans and we are not perfect. We all make mistakes. But all we can do is learn and grow from them. And that is what I have learned to do.

There is one thing that I just found out about last week that I have a lot of regrets about. It hurts. But I know there is nothing I can do to change it now. And honestly while it was happening there was really nothing I could do in my control either... So while it still hurts me because it is a very new thing. All I can do is make it better and prevent myself from reliving it again.

Honey instead of dwelling on the past live and learn. Remember you are not perfect. You can not be perfect. All you can be is you and that is GREAT. Learn from the mistakes you have made. You can not change the past. And be a better person in the future.

I have made very bad choices in my life, choices that make me cringe with disgust, and I do not know how you forgive yourself even when those you have wronged have forgiven you. I do know that those memories make a great marker and reminder of who I have been and whom I never want to be again. Use that guilt as a motivator to decide today and everyday not to repeat mistakes you have made in the past.......The guilt begins to dim when each time you are confronted with a choice, you choose wisely because of your past..... That's all I have....

Sometimes I am very regretful of past decisions... but I manage to make bad decisions about twice a day, so I usually have other stuff going on... It's not good to dwell on the past too much. Sure, you can have a little regret, but you can't undo any of it... try to think about how you are going to improve your future, rather than think about ways in which you made mistakes in your past.

I have to be honest with you I have had a shady past but it is just that my past. I try to make better decisions about life because I am older now, but sometimes I feel guilty about things I did because I know they were not right, but when I was doing them I was not thinking about being right or wrong I was thinking about having fun. Just don't beat yourself up because you cannot change the past you can only look forward to your future.

The way to get rid of this is to feel forgiven. You can go to church/temple/place of worhip and talk to your religious authority about this.

If religion isn't your thing, then you just have to accept your actions and learn from your mistakes. Try and keep it from happening again. If you can't make it up, then pass it forward. How much? Until it's enough.

You have to remember - that past is JUST that - the past. You cant change what you did in the past - just learn from the mistakes you made and work at a better future.

I carry guilt with me. And it sticks. It is hard sometimes to cope. I try not to think about it but it is always there. Now I guess that is why I am on WElbutrin.
