Some take it literal, other people scramble clues and make up their own meanings, You can research stuff on the internet, but it is ultimately someone's idea! I want to understand everything the Bible has to offer, I do not want to be misled.

The only way you can begin to understand the bible is to ask God to open up it's meaning to you before you start to read it. Not just anyone can pick up the bible and understand what it is telling you. You have to develope a relationship with God and eventually accept Christ as your Savior, and then you will be amazed at how easy it will be to understand what God is saying to you when you read his word. Try praying to God for Him to open up his word to you, and He will open up a whole different world and outlook about your life as well. It's wonderful.

I invite you to write me at carolbmartin1958@yahoo.com so i might be abel to help you further. God bless you.

You need to find someone that knows the bible, preferably a church pastor or someone in a group at church.
Different groups look at the bible in different ways. Some people take the world being made in 7 days literally, and some take it to be figurative. However, differences between groups that believe in the bible should not matter, because in the end, the people are worshiping God. If you want to understand, try not looking to the Internet for answers. They don't have any kind of certification or anything, and make sure you check the site before diving head over heels into what the sites say.
Ask someone at a church, or someone that you know is strong spiritually.

The Bible is written alot in parablyl so that we don't read straight through, so that we can take the time out and study for ourselves what it means in our lives, especially in the New Testament, there are so many different things that people get from the meaning and as long as no one goes and changes it as they did in 'Davinci Code", Its alright to fit different ways to help you in your life. The Bible is the guide for us from God.
The Old Testament is more of a history and some prophesies, which were later fulfilled, and The new is many yet to be filled, I recommend taking some time and looking at it through your OWN eyes and see if You can find the answers that You are looking for, thats the great thing, God never leaves us and is constantly teaching us once we accept Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Because it is not complete. About 70 years after the Christ had died. King Constiteen gathered together the archbishops to vote on which doctrines were right which ones were not. Many doctrines have been removed from the bible. If you have read through the bible you may come across title of book that are no longer in the bible for example a*Wars of the Lord; b*book of Jasher; c*book of the acts of Solomon; d*book of Samuel the seer; e*book of Gad the seer; f*book of Nathan the prophet; g*prophecy of Ahijah; h*visions of Iddo the seer ; I*book of Shemaiah; J*book of Jehu ); sayings of the seers (2 Chr. 33: 19); an epistle of Paul to the Corinthians, earlier than our present 1 Corinthians (1 Cor. 5: 9); possibly an earlier epistle to the Ephesians (Eph. 3: 3); there are many others that were taken from the bible if you want them i can give them to you.

First of all you have to be born again spiritually ( saved ). in 1 Crinthians 2:14 it reads, "But the natural born man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned. The natural born man is an unsaved person and spiritually discerned is that the natural man cant understan because they need to be examined by the spirit which God puts in you at your salvation. At your salvation the one whomreveals the truth to you is the Holy Spirit. He is our teacher. If you have a constant sin in your life like porno, drugs, hate, drinking, cigarets, or whatever, this will hender you from experiencing all and exactly what Gods Word has for you.If you are saved, get the sin out of you life, not that youll be perfect but the stuff that brings you to sin like the internet, or whatever and really SHOW God your serious and THEN He will be serious with you. He disires to have that intimate relationship with you if you let Him.

The bible has been changed a thousand times or more, they make it fit with society and culture of the times so people don't believe it's revolting...although it still is to some people. It's a fairytale changed by the generations, finding the true original bible would be impossible. I do encourage you to read it and make your own conclusions based on what you read, it does help you understand religion and other peoples views...but try try try to read all of it, most people who believe in the bible only read certain passages that they like or have only their priest or reverend read to them, that's blind faith and is ignorant...read for yourself and think for your self.

The Bible is confusing because it was written by confused ancient tribesmen who didn't even know the earth was a spheroid. There's nothing in the Bible worth reading, except from a historical perspective.

If you want understanding of God's word, ask Him. He said if any man lacks wisdom let him ask. Before reading the Bible ask God to reveal His word to you. Also get a newer translation The Revised Standard Version is easy to read.

Any book composed over such a large time frame with so many authors is bound to be confusing and contradictory. My advice would be to read it from beginning to end, giving every passage the same amount of consideration. Draw your own conclusions.
