I'm trying to work out why prayer-believers want to get better.
Or maybe they don't want to survive, and that's why they're going with prayer: they want to hurry up and get to heaven.
Free will rules out prayer. We're on our own here.

Great question. How many Christians picked PRAYER only?? I bet not a one....
Not sure if you heard about this, but medical doctors proved prayer doesnt work - or worse yet, that it has a negative effect! They did an experiment involving open heart surgery patients, and had three groups - those told they would receive prayer, those told they MIGHT receive prayer, and one told they would NOT receive prayers. Turns out the ones that healed the fastest were the ones who did not receive any prayers at all! Worse of the lot - the ones that were prayed for!
BTW, if I was gravely ill and had a choice, it would be to die peaceably without the poking and proding of medical science. And it certainly wouldnt be prayer...

I would choose: To allow qualified doctors to use medical science to try and save me.
There is nothing preventing the other people from praying all the same. And if it is a pre-condition, to abandon the medical help to gain favours of prayers, it is not worth it, and will not work at all. Prayer in its true sense is ever UNCONDITIONAL and works only that way.
There are very powerful beings who pray for even the unknown patients, for their relief and recovery from illness.

I'll take "bunch of people praying for me" for $1000. I say that because the medical science isnt 100% foolproof & just b/c the doctors are qualified doesnt mean that they are mistake-proof. However, prayer is power. If they pray for you to get better, & you do, you were saved by the power of prayer. If they pray for you & you die, you are going to Heaven (only applicable to certain people, lol) anyway so either way you win.

Depends how ill am I? if i know i'll be on some machine to keep me alive because i cant breath on my own then start praying . And or the recovery of the situation, had surgery before some people have family or someone to assist them when their at home thats an option i dont have. i much rather lose life than lose a limb. These are just few of the things that go through my mind when im ill or injured.

humans are a species with virtually no external protections built in. ie: fangs, claws, fur, poison etc... we have the brain to develop strategic means of defense. that mind has figured ways to use plants and science to nourish and repair ourselves. anyone who says prayer is the only answer is forgetting that the lord helps those who help themselves and also that "god" gave us the mental capability to design medical technology. go for the doctors and have your friends meditate (or pray) on your speedy recovery.

Give me medical science help.
I've never heard of anyone getting better on prayers alone. And if they have, the person probably would have cured on their own anyhow, it's a very imprecise way to go.

WOW...good question!!! I would have to say let the medical doctors have a go at it. I can pray and I know my family and friends would anyway...so I'm covered.
