I am at a very low point and feel I can't get through another day. I hear people screaming abuse and commenting on my actions nearly all the time. The worst thing is they have started ordering me to do things. I recently walked on the railway track but had no idea at the time I was doing this. (I was luckily found by a transport worker). I also set fire to my kitchen but again can't remember doing it. I am not doing it for attention as I have told no one in person. (my psychiatrist knows there are voices but that is all) I just live in fear
I have lots to live for really including being a single parent but can't cope. I have tried anti psychotic medications but they made me very ill and did not stop the noise. I do not know what to try next.
Serious answers would be very welcome.

Thank you to everyone who has replied. I currently work and my behaviour is increasingly erratic. I know the responsible thing would be not to work but we have to have an income so the pressure to get back to normal is unbearable

It definitely sounds like professional help is your best bet, though I know you've tried that. You may want to try some different medications. Each one may affect you differently.

As for what you yourself can do, I think your state of mind can change a lot. Take back control, tell yourself YOU are in control, that YOU can do or not do whatever you want, etc. Kinda meditate about that. Feel your own strength and power and tell the other voices they are not welcome. They cannot stay and you will not listen. Just like with people or pets or whatever, doing anything to reinforce the bad stuff only makes it continue. Don't say you don't have control. Don't believe those voices can make you do things. Instead, reinforce the positive. You are in control. You are trying to change things. You DO NOT want to do these things you hear.

It's not professional or scientific, but it's all I can give you. Just keep changing your thought processes and maybe those voices will start saying good things.

Really, this is not something you can control or stop...with help you can learn how to avoid responding to the voices or ways to drown them out...they are caused by an imbalance of neurotransmitters in your brain. If you have tried at least two of the newer anti psychotic medications and they have failed then I would suggest you talk to your doctor about a medication called clozoril. Don't give up on the medications, sometimes they take a long time to work and yes they will all have some side effects, however, the effects of no treatment will surely be hospitalization, harm to yourself or others and most likely having your child taken away.

You should be honest with your doctor about your condition. If you are not telling him / her the whole story then you dont trust them. Find someone who does.
Also, do understand that you were not always like this. Do you remember a quieter time, when your mind was at ease and it was possible to find peace within? Try to go back to that time in your mind. Medication can help you but you need to be supervised while on it. And it might take a try or two to get the right one just for you. Never be afraid to ask for help. And when you feel an attack coming your way take a step back and breathe. Controlling your reaction with help you deal with your situation. Talk to your doctor openly about your problem. They are there to help you.

Same for me and Anti Psychotics just made it worse or made me really ill and gave plenty of side effects. I would suggest you trying Psychotherapy and perhaps meeting with other people with the same problem, sometimes talking about it can help.
I really would like to know how to be better again I feel lonely, ill and like a baby even sick. But it is a gift and God gave you it for some reason- you may just have to cope.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Talk to your psychiatrist about the other behaviors you are experiencing. Go to a support group. Volunteer to do something so that you are around people more. Tell a really close friend or trusting family member. Thre are lots of diffenerent types of pills and some of them work differently--ask for a prescription for something else. Try to eat healthy food--green things.

how many meds did you try? There are lots, and if you tried just one or 2, you may find another one that works better. You have got to get to a dr asap (and tell him the truth!) because it sounds like it has progressed to a point where you could possibly be a danger to yourself or others.

Meds can be nasty to take, but it is not just antipsychotic meds that have unpleasant side effects. Think about cancer patients and chemotherapy. It makes them sick, but it is better than dying. Same to you: you could kill yourself or someone else if you do not get help. I cannot stress enough how serious this is.

Please see a doctor. They can try different combinations of drugs to help you. It is not normal to hear voices, and it is not fair that you have to go through this. There are people that can help, and there are people that are going through the same thing. You can learn from each other. Be completely honest with your psychiatrist (that is the only way he/she can truly help you). Good luck, all my best.

You may need more intense psychotherapy, perhaps inpatient care. It sounds like your condition is very serious. You are a danger to yourself, possibly others. Think about your children. You don't want them to grow up without you. Do what you can to stay alive and be there for them.

If you can afford it, i would suggest seeing a psychiatrist (psychologist if other is not available). They should be able to prescribe medicine to regulate your inernal milleu and have you behaving less erratic.

Try another drug. Or check yourself into a mental facility. You should not be supervising children.
