YES 14 is TOO YOUNG AND AGAINST THE LAW.... If you're 14, please don't have sex or feel pressured into having sex. Fight for your right to have a childhood... plenty of time for sex later....

you know its highly overated too, 5 minutes of fumbling around for nothing.

In the UK, you can legally have sex when you're 16, but I think you should wait until you're a bit older when you can learn to appreciate it more and be with someone who loves and respects you.

If you are intent on doing it now, then please please please make sure you have protected sex.... pregnancy is about the best that can happen, the worst is all of those horrible diseases that you can catch.

The problem with having sex at 14 is that it brings a whole host of other potential problems that you shouldn't be having to worry about on top of school, your mates, family stuff etc. You have to think about the chances of getting pregnant, catching diseases, sleeping with some immature school sports star who then dumps you for some other blonde chick the next day........it all gets pretty emotional.

Most people want their first time to be something they can look back on without regret 'cos you will never forget that first time - unless you were pished on vodka and orange at some naff party and can't even recall doing it.

I had some near misses when I was younger when I got myself into silly situations but soooo glad I never 'put out' til I was in a relatively long term (a year) relationship and was nearly 17.

Everyone's different, but the law is there to protect young people and to ensure you can get the education and fun you deserve before you have to start worrying about looking after someone else.

Hope that helps some. At the end of the day kids will do what they want, but if you have a sensible head on your shoulders and know what you want from life then you can make the choices wisely.

My mum always told me that you will know when you're ready, and that that's the right time (providing your 16+).
I watched a lot of my friends rush headlong into sexual relationships they weren't emotionally mature enough for. (this has nothing to do with how mentally mature you are - believe me!)
The result was always complicated, being hurt, used and dumped by older partners and of course the worries of contraception and pregnancy. Not even a woman in her 30's just shakes off a pregnancy scare or miscarriage when/if it happens.
There was one girl in my school who lost her virginity at 12, not only did it cause emotional scars (i.e. she still has trust issues and cannot commit to a man and mean it!) But, she struggled for over ten years to have children, having over 9 miscarriages before finally having her little girl.
Believe me although she thought it was 'big and clever' at the time if she could go back and change it she would.

When you are old enough to care and nurture the child that might be born from a sex act. That is the best answer. Teens are too young...hold onto your virginity, it is a wonderful thing to give to that special partner, not the high school dork with a bone-r in a backseat or a locked basement. Even better, give it to your future spouse.

When you're ready to make an adult decision and accept the consequences of having sex. 18 if we're talking numbers. Most of the time even that's too early but you ARE considered an adult. Protect yourself.
