Scientists who base their claims on purely scientific research, experimentation and observation and have already allowed us to make huge advances in the knowledge of the world around us.
And yes sometimes these folk can get it wrong or only almost get it right but at least produce findings based on logic and reason the majority of which have been proved correct .

It is a curious thing how few humanists seem to be able to grasp a simple truth about Christianity: Christianity is not a book.

Traditionally, Christianity viewed itself as a church - a living, breathing holistic organism that identified itself as a universal and mystical body of Christ. The book is useful to the extent that theologians study it and make sense of it through the Christological prism.

But what is at the center of our belief is Christ. The strange stuff people toss out about "fables" isn't particularly relevant. Humans are mythological beings, and the truth of that can be found on any cave wall where Paleolithic humans lived. As Tolkien has said - myths are not lies, they are splintered fragments of the truth light.

Do you think Christianity is surprised and crumbles when people jump up and down shouting "myth!??"

This is no insight - St. Augustine tells us in "Confessions" that St. Ambrose, the archibishop of Milan, had this very insight 1700 years ago! Augustine was unable to accept Christianity as a serious religion until he heard Ambrose say that tales such as Noah's ark have far more worth as parables than as historical records, whatever their worth as the latter.

If long ago Christians knew that biblical origin tales needn't be considered science, why should I have to choose between faith and science today?

When the last Pope rehabilitated Galileo he pointed out how theologians should expect to have to interpret scripture in a way that does not disaccord with nature.

"It is necessary to determine the proper sense of Scripture, while avoiding any unwarranted interpretations that make it say what it does not intend to say. In order to delineate the field of their own study, the exegete and the theologian must keep informed about the results achieved by the natural sciences," He said.

If the Pope figures we can work it out and put some measure of faith in both, why should I feel any differently?

I pick God. Scientist have theories that not proof. I can have a theory about anything.

My theory is that a watermelon is black inside until the air hits it and turns it red. Why cause the seeds are black. If you can't prove me wrong than it must be a fact right. That is all a theory is someones guess alot of times it doesn't even make common sense.

I know scientist have helped us make huge advances as far as technology goes but they still can't create a civilization on Mars that is similiar to the Earths. Why? because they simply don't know how.

I believe the scientist and the things I have learned throught out my life. But, there are somethings I have experienced that science cannot explain or even that I cannot explain. But I don't attribute it to the bible just to the unknown.

It's not a matter of faith since faith is nothing but conditioning.

We must follow the evidance and ignore the emotional bullsh*t of ancient fears and prejudices!
