Neither man nor woman, or both and more, undeifined, nongendered- we really do need to stop reducing God to human terms!

God is the very essence of all things and we are but expressions of God.

Simply because we relate to all things in human terms does not mean all things are of human terms.

Even a tree is for shade, or potential wood for burning, building, etc- we USE it to suit us - we are not awed, or respectful, we take it for granted because rather than see it as it is we see it as it serves US! We do the same with God- we use God to dictate, to give us what we think we want. Let Go and Let God be as it was, as it is, as it will.

See, you have yourself disclosed a subtle hint in your remark "Not that it matters either way".. Even in your case, as a human being, there would have been moments when it did not matter whether you were a man or women, when performing something beyond normal, or when expressing, feeling something above routine. When it so , even with us humans, then the ever responsible, all knowing, all powerful, all embracing superior being called God, how can He remain restricted in the limitations of man or woman! God has to be and has to remain all pervading , omnipotent, omnipresent, subtler than the subtlest, etc, and all this not possible even assuming a giant human form. Spirituality is all about even ourselves getting a bit loosened up out of these limitations !

I guess, the real question was "Do you think God is male or female?"
It's clear to a 5-year-old that God is neither a man nor a woman. Whether It is of female or male nature - this is an entirely different issue. Whether you talk about the yin and yang principles or about the Holy Spirit being a female counterpart to God the Father, there are certain spiritual attributes that one can code-label in terms of gender, even though they have nothing to do with chromosomes, hormones and reproductive function.

I personally believe that God is neuter - only because I believe there is only one God. One can be male only as compared to a female. One can be female only as compared to a male. If there is nobody in Its class one can compare It to, then the whole question of gender does not make any sense. And yes, unless I talk to hard-core Christians, Muslims or Jews, I refer to God as "It" and don't see anything wrong with it.

I think what we call god is an eternal spirit that is not in a human body and does not have the need to mate or reproduce, therefore I don't believe that god is male or female but spiritually has the characteristics of both.

Male and Female are aspects of the physical world like light and dark and so on.

There is nothing to indicate that this dualistic nature would extend beyond the physical dimension! So a God would most likely not have any gender as we think of it!

Everytime i see God being referred to in the Bible, it's always with He, Him, His, etc. in the masculine tense. Therefore, I'd say He's a man!

They are both and neither. However, they choose to show themselves to me as males and females, depending on the deity. Either that or I simply interpret them as such.
