If you know a local travel agent that would be the best option. I was doing some research on the web and the prices were way high than what my travel agent found for me.

don't go thru a travel agency, you will also be paying commission.
For flight inside Mexico, (the country, from state to state) try aerocalifornia or aeromexico.

You should also buy it NOW, if you know for sure that you're going to go and you know what dates you plan to travel.

Alaska Airlines usually offers the best price! if you'd like to compate, please go to www.viajo.com, go into the US flag, and then just search your flight...around 350 USD.
Also, check the possibility to fly to Puerto Vallarta. Near Guadalajara and cheaper price.
