I'm 25 and I wont do that. I have seen many boating accidents. I love to go tubing and all but not behind a boat. There can be undertows and engine problems. Tubing in general just to flott a river I would say old enough to be strong swimmer. I live in SA so tubing in the Guadalupe is a summer thing we do here. I tend to be protective though. I would not allow them to tube behind a boat.

Laws require that children under 12 wear a life vest on boats at all times. When any person, even an adult, is being pulled behind a boat they must wear a vest. This can help some people. It depends on how big the child is. If they are very small and light weight, the turbulant ride may be too much for them to take. It's your call. Always discuss the rules to being safe with watersports with children.

I sort of think it depends on the child and the circumstances. Some people live right on a lake and the child has been exposed to a lot of water activities is an awesome swimmer. I have seen people holding little kids(in a life vest)on their lap on a tube as young as 2 or 3. If you are more of a city dweller, you should be careful and not let a child go tubing unless they have passed a few swim classes.

A child should be 16 before being allowed to tube behind a boat. At this age a child has more experience with control over their actions and knows that acting immaturely can cause a dangerous if not fatal accident to themselves and people around them.

I think that they could go at a fairly young age (5 or 6) if they were riding with an adult and the boat was only pulling along slowly. I've been tubing behind a boat before and it was absolutely awesome but it was very intense and we fell off a lot.

well i have gone tubing ever since i was really really little, so i would say probably like 3 or 4, possibly 5. but as long as they have a life jacket on and you dont go very fast on the boat, it should be ok. (and if they are younger than 5, they should have a parent with them on the tube)

i would say around 6-8, make sure they can swim and make sure they have a life preserver. have the driver take it easy and let them get a feel for it go from there. most importantly, always have someone watching. if the tube is big enough, have some go tubing with the child, if that would put your mind at ease

I think it depends a lot on how well the child can swim. If he or she is a good swimmer then let them try it. Most often a good swimmer is usually age 9-12 that seems like a good age to start slowly on tubing.

depends on if they can swim... my kids were tubing at about 6-7 yrs. old and they did fine with a life jacket-but they could swim already too.
