On the left. Unless, of course, you are missing your left hand or left ring finger.

An engagement ring is normally worn on the ring finger of the left hand. However, this can vary depending on the country. Most Western cultures wear the engagement on the left hand. The online encyclopedia, Wikipedia, points out that some countries such as Germany, Greece, and Chile wear the engagement and wedding rings on the right hand.

Throughout the engagement, it should be on the left hand on the "ring" finger, which is the finger next to the pinkie.
On the wedding day, you can either keep it there and add the band to it during the ceremony and switch the two later after the ceremony, or you can just for the day wear the engagement ring on the right hand until after the ceremony. Either way, I don't think it matters on that day.

On the left hand. After the wedding you will take it off and put the wedding band on and place the engagement ring on after the wedding band.

Left. The only time it moves is the day of the wedding. Once you are married the band will go on first. That should be the ring closest to your heart at that point.

i have seen it on both sides right and left.....some people dont wanna place anything on the left until they have the wedding band to go with it..but pretty much everyone associates the left side with wedding rings ..so if u see a girl with a naked rign finger u assume she is un-commited ..some people decide to wear it on the right b/c they wanna have the finger free at the wedding for the placement of the band..so some brides just switch the fingers the day of the wedding.
