I have a bet going with my friend: I don't think cats will ALWAYS land on all four feet and my friend DOES!

I live in an 8 story apartment complex and I've decided to test this theory from each story. My friend stands on the bottom level and I flip my cat in the air from the fire escape. So far my cat has passed the test all the way up to the 3rd story and it's cost me $20 a story. But if Whiskers ever DOESN'T land on its feet, my friend will pay me 200 bucks.

Whiskers is acting a little wobbly since the last toss so I thought I'd stop and find out if anybody's done this test before or if there are any published results on the net. It seems like the higher I go, the less Whiskers wants to participate and the more he wants to scratch me. Which leads me to believe that he knows pretty soon, he won't be able to land on his feet.

Does anyone know the maximum height I can go or should I continure the test?

you should try putting tape on the bottom of the kittys paws and then cutting its whiskers on one side. To top it off and ensure you win the much earned $200 you should put a little beer in its water bowl. Dont worry about these morons who say you are going to hurt it, we all know cats have 9 lives. And I would like to thank you for spending your free time doing this experiment, if everyone had a heart for learning more about animals like you do, then maybe we would live in a more loving and caring world. Please let me know the results of the experiment and i will let you know how far out you can take a dog in the ocean before it doesnt have the strength to swim back.

My cat fell out of the ceiling once. I'm not sure how he got in the ceiling... I was just sitting here using the computer when suddenly the cat just dropped out from above me. It was weird. Anyway he actually landed on his back. But he was okay, he got up and ran off. I've heard that the farther up they fall from, the better their chances of landing on all fours, because they have more time to get all adjusted and prepared for the landing.

It's actually quite amazing what a cat does to ensure it will land on it's feet. Now, I have tried this on my own and seen it first hand. When you drop him out of the 8th floor window, if you watch closey, at about the 5th strory he will begin to.....

Wait, why am I telling you this. I'll tell you what...jump out of the 8th story window with your cat and you will see what he does to ensure a safe landing. It is really cool.

The higher up the cat falls from the more likely they are to land on their feet. cats need time to twist in midair and land on their feet. drop the cat from close to the ground and the cat might not.

Holly B....someone needs to drop your a$s off the 8th story to see if you can land on YOUR feet! You uneducated b*tch!

Anyway, my cat commited suicide off the third story of an apartment building. Poor Simon, he was such a nice kitty!

It will not land on its feet by the 8th story. I say you will kill it by the 5th or the 6th then you are just droping the body and I don't think it will land on its feet then.

Instead of launching the cat into the air with your hands, hit it with a bat. I GUARNATEE it will NOT land on its feet.

TFTP

ed. THAT IS A JOKE DO NOT HIT A CAT OR ANY OTHER ANIMAL FOR THAT MATTER WITH A BAT.

I believe it's 122 feet, but it depends on the wind. For a quick win, try tying a brick to kitties back.
P.S. shame on you for cruelty to animal and ya better be kidding. :)

my cat doesnt. he was born very small and slow. so i kept him and gave away the others cause he was a little mentally slow. like he still tried to suckle even when he was way older, its like he's stuck in kitten mode. he rarely lands on his feet
