Is the joke recipient just being a drama queen about it?

The best example of my question was when Jess. Simpson got roasted by George Lopez at the People's Choice Awards. She made such a BFD about the Nick joke. What-ever!

Stand your ground and explain it was just a joke, some people are so sensitive its ridiculous.

Apologize & then drop the matter (even if you think the recipient is being a drama queen about the joke).

Apologize and get it over with. Just because the person can't take a joke doesn't mean that you should have to suffer through the drama that goes along with it.

I had a friend who did this all the time. And my jokes weren't mean, I just teased her on occasion but she'd get so mad she wouldn't speak to me for days.

I would apologize but say, "Look, I'm teasing because I like you, not because I want to be mean to you!" If your jokes are fairly harmless and not cruel, I would think he/she's being a little dramatic.

My friend is still a drama queen from time to time but we're still friends. I do watch what I say around her, though!

depends on what you are joking about, is it a personal issue or are you attacking her in some way? ask yourself how you would feel if someone made the same joke about you. if it seems to be bothering that person, it must be hitting a sensitve spot. Probably just apologize, and move on.

Definately apologize, I know that may be hard since you thought it was funny and you knew that you were not trying to hurt them, but some people don't have the same sense of humor as you do and they may get their feelings hurt. Just say you didn't mean it that way and you are sorry.

If you know for a fact that the person on the receiving end truly felt bad, then by all means, apologize. Not everything you say is funny and appropriate to all.

Apologize. Usually that means that your joke was not any good. It is not a good idea to try to get laughs by hurting people's feelings anyways.

Yes,apologize and make it clear it was a joke out of jest not spite. After that try to subtly change the subject ;move on to something else.

If your joke could be taken the wrong way it was probably insulting to that person. Apologize nicely.
