The idea of a God that has human values and beliefs is a very immature attitude. Any being that is all knowing must by defination dwell outside of time. Not being bound by time a being would be incapable of getting emotionally wrapped up in mundane matters.
What is most likely is that if a God would exist it would not act in any way that we could even relate to.

Oh some people will catch the subtleness, and its not like God is hiding. He has stated his position and its up to us to follow through. As far as those who say they don't believe in any higher intelligence than man; isn't it sad that they have nothing to turn to when they have reached the end of their answers?

The Old and New Testament were full of references to God directly intervening in human affairs. I'm not sure why the standard would change.

One of God's greatest gifts to mankind is free will. We have the choice to accept Christ as out Lord and Savior or not. If Jesus gave us irrefutable proof of His existence, then He is restricting our will so it is not free.
Additionally, it is written that by faith is one saved. Faith is believing without seeing or knowing. If we know 100% that God exists, we cannot have faith and therefore cannot be saved. Just my two cents.

This is what the story of Lazarus and the rich man was about. And Jesus said that no amount of "proof" would be accepted by those who say they need proof.
