Back in 1976 I was in a bad car accident, that left me permanently and visibly scarred on my right arm. Many years later, when grocery shopping, as I put my items on the belt at the check-out register, a little boy who was next in line with his mother was watching me. I thought nothing of it until he asked me....
"hey lady...who put that football on your arm"!!
The mother immediately tried to apologize for her son, and I reassured her that no harm had been done. Yes, indeed the scars on my forearm resemble the lacing on a football. But they resemble something more to me....that I am here today, thanks to the rescue workers who pryed me out of the wreckage and thanks to the medical team who put me back together. It could of been worse. And yes, most definitely, thank you God.
