I am not sure if it works for water, but have you ever heard of an ear candle? Go to a health food store/natural market, and ask for them...Sounds freaky, but they work!

I use a mixture of 1 part white vinegar, and 1 part rubbing alcohol.

You can also buy a commercially made swim-ear.

You may have a build up of ear wax, though. It may be best to see a doctor for that.

Do not use Q-tips! They will only push the wax further into your ear canal, possibly damaging your eardrum. Q-tips should only be used to clean the OUTER part of the ear, not into the canal.

I can say this with utmost assurance. I have excessive wax in my ears, and have to have them cleaned at least 3 times a year. I love to swim, and experience water in the ears frequently. Use the swim-ear, or the home made version. They both work well.

take a cotton ball and soak it with rubbing alcohol. squeeze the alcohol into your ear. let it sit for 30 sec. then tip your head back the other way and use a fresh cotton ball to soak up the water and alcohol. The alcohol will soak up the water in your ear and then flow out into the cotton ball. And I do it on myself everytime i get out of the pool.

If it happens a lot then you might have wax buid-up. You should always use a q-tip to clean your ears instead of water in the shower.

I have never tried this and I make no claims, but a few older ex-Navy guys I knew swore that a few drops of Listerine was the cure-all for swimmers ear.

Maybe you can look it up and see if it makes sense to you.

tilt, your head so your ear is slanted, pat your head until water comes out (the harder the better) or use a q-tip
