Well, I am not a Christian....I am an Atheist.....and from the answers that I have read to this question, I think there are many blanket-statements being made. I do not think Christians are stupid, or duped, or afraid to think for yourselves. You choose to believe in God, therefore you obviously DO think for yourself, right ?? As for me, I feel that whatever a person wants to believe in to help him/her get through life is up to them, and I say more power to you. Even though I do not believe in God, I do not think negatively about anyone who does. And I do not criticize them either. If you criticize someone for their beliefs, then you must think that it is your responsibility for YOU to think FOR them. I have friends who are very devout Christians and I love them no matter what they believe, and they do the same for me. And for the person who stated that he/she prays for us Atheists, that we find salvation through Jesus Christ....thank you.

Ok, sorry that I answered your question even though I am not a Christian. Hope you do not mind. I just felt that I need to put in my two cents.

Atheists aren't a homogenous group. There are many different types of atheists - from some who truly fit the modern definition and simply "lack belief" to those who positively assert there to be no God.

Similarly, there is no one single outlook that atheists would have towards Christians. Some are indifferent to it, some slightly annoyed by the fact that Christianity even exists, and some are genuinely puzzled that any rational person sees the world differently than they do.

This parallels, in many respects, the way Christians regard atheists - some don't care about atheists, some are annoyed that atheists exist, and many are puzzled that anyone could see the world differently than them.

Atheists - perhaps more so than other Yahoo Answers participants - seem to derive a curious glee from trolling. In some cases, it appears to be because of an unwarranted superiority complex. At other times, it seems to be an expression of revenge at some hurt they perceive to have suffered at the hands of religion. This trolling is the one behaviour that seems to distinguish at least some atheists - you generally don't tend to see it to anywhere near the same extent from other groups.

Understand I was once a Satanist. Had it not have been for true Christians that took the time to pray for me and help guide me out... I would have believed life was vain and ended it all.

I studied books written by atheists who converted to Christianity... Josh McDowell is one of the best authors around on the subject. I spent 20 years in my quest for knowledge.. so despite the fact that 99% of atheists refuse to consider both sides of the issue. I did... and that is why I am now such a die hard Christian.

If you are talking about Athiest fanatics then they think the Christian religion is based on fear. That they are nothing more then a cult founded on superstitions. They also believe the Christians are religious zeolots (trying to push thier beliefs on others).

But if you are talking about most Athiests then it's just the oppisent.

See the truth is most Athiests don't care what you believe in. They just don't believe in God that's it.

Hmmm I guess Christians don't think badly of other peoples views and beliefs since they are so just and good.

Im not Christian but I believe in God and I have had more Christians tell me I am wrong and won't go to Heaven when I die because I don't worship the right way.

I don't go to church because Im not interested in the fashion show and I believe there is more corruption in most churches than people realize.

But I believe in and love God with all my heart. And yet I am still going to Hell according to the Christians in the world.

I was a young single mom and decided to take my baby daughter to church one Sunday. I was glared at and whispered about (not quietly mind - I could hear all the nasty things they said.) and people avoided me. I was dressed nicely, my daughter was in a lovely dress and I was quite nice looking in my younger days. There was no reason for them to be unkind other than a mistake I had made in my life (that turned into the most wonderful miracle!)

My best friend married a Christian man. He swears, lies, assaults his wife and treats her like garbage. He stole a friends truck and sold it on him because the friend had my best friends name on the papers. He treats my friends children like they are garbage and has caused my friend to lose friends. But he goes to church every week and acts like he is perfect to a tee. But as soon as he leaves he goes back to the same nasty abrasive creep he usually is. Fairweather Christian? I think so....

I could go on.....

I downright refuse to call myself a Christian. You people have tainted the name for me.

So don't come here and act like you Christians are persecuted for your beliefs - you people bring it on yourselves.

They think that we are unthinking illogical people. That we refuse to reason out the things we put our faith in. That we are either not smart enough or too lazy to even want to know the truth. They are wrong, but this is what they think.

Atheists are people to, not idiots or think other people are. You believe what you want, they'll believe what they want. Honestly, do u really care THAT much about what other people think about you? If so, thats one of this societys problems.

They assume that we are ignorant and/or unable to think for ourselves. I think that the atheists who come to this forum probably suffer from low self esteem. That is why they come here to mock at those they think are "inferior" to themselves.
They deserve our pity, rather than our anger or hatred...

Personally, I could care less. I just pray that they find salvation through Jesus Christ. The rest is up to them.
