All soda (pop) is bad for you. It makes your body acidic. It takes about 30 glasses of water to counter the acidic effects of 1 can of soda.

Soda is just nasty stuff - the ingredients listed on the side of the bottle are revealing. Think about it. So much sugar or corn syrup rather which is a highly processed derivative - so it's not even pur sugar. Diet coke or pepsi contains an artificial sweetner called aspartame which is a mix of various chemicals. So the truth is yes, it is sugar free but contains chemicals which are much more dangerous than ordinary sugar.
To answer your question : Yes, diet coke is bad for you. For that matter any kind of coke or pepsi is bad for you. Stick to water or tea.

Everything can be bad for you. But moderation is the key. Two or three diet cokes a day isn't going to hurt you, but when you start drinking nothing but diet coke, you could run into some nutritional problems. But it's generally fine.

Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi, and many other diet drinks contain a chemical called aspartame, which is used as an artificial sweetener. There is some evidence that aspartame kills nerve and brain cells, or inhibits their function by suppressing neurotransmitters. As far as I know, this is only suspected at present, not proved. But for some reason the government's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is unwilling to examine the allegations regarding the harmfulness of aspartame.
It may be that there is political corruption afoot. Aspartame is made by big drug companies, who make a lot of profit from selling the chemical. Whenever "big money" is involved, there's the possibility that some of it is being used to bribe politicians to "look the other way."
There's an alternative sweetener called Splenda, used by Royal Crown's Diet Rite and some of the off-brands (like Rocky Top diet cola and Clover Valley diet cola). There's no known harm from Splenda that I know of, but that doesn't mean it's safe, either. It might not rot your brain, as aspartame is said to do, but it might do something else, like turn you into a mutant.
The best low-calorie sweetener, from a health standpoint, is probably stevia. Stevia is a plant (you can grow it in your garden) used in Japan and other countries as a sweetener. It's much sweeter than sugar, as aspartame and splenda are, but unlike those chemicals stevia is a natural product. It won't hurt you.
Oddly, stevia is banned in the United States as a sweetener. The FDA, an agency supposed to concern itself with public health, has outlawed the use of the safest low-calorie sweetener in the world! The circumstantial evidence that improper influences have been involved in the making of relevant laws is made stronger by this fact.
Why would stevia be illegal for use in the USA as a sweetener? The answer is simple: anybody can grow stevia. It only takes seeds, dirt, water and sunshine. It may be that the capitalist drug companies bribed the lawmakers to make the product illegal simply because they can't control the means of production.
I'd be careful about any drink sweetened by artificial chemicals, and Diet Coke is one of them.

Yes. Aspartame or sucralose are very bad for you. Plain old sugar is better. But then the regular soda has High Fructose corn syrup, also very bad. You just can't win. That's why it is best to just drink it occasionally and take up good old fashioned water instead. You'll be amazed how it grows on you. Drink it cold with lemon for starters, you'll get hooked I swear it.
My 14 year old son recently gave up soda and started drinking LOTS of water, and guess what? His acne cleared up by at least 90%. WooHoo, is he happy.!!!!!

Anything is too bad in excess, no mater what it is. If you drink gallons of it every day, then yes, it will be bad for you. But one or two cans per day isn't going to hurt.

There has been a lot of negative media coverage about artificial sweeteners. As with anything artificial, I'm sure too much can be harmful.
