I mean no direspect, it is an honest question, I have heard the Buddha used to refrain from eating for long periods. Is the fat form of the statues symbolic? Is it real?

There are diverse Buddhas for the time of heritage. the unique Buddha become truly truly skinny. At one factor he had a food regimen of only a grain of rice an afternoon. different Buddhas after him were fat, and some skinny.

The "fat" buddha you see is actually the "happy" buddha and is really just an icon of fortune - you rub his belly for good luck. The real buddha was indeed actually quite skinny.

Symbolic. The largeness of Buddha is symbolic of the largeness and strength of his Solar Chakra, which is located just below the navel.

I think I've seen statues and stuff of Buddha, and it wasn't fat. I don't know why they say Buddha is fat.

I've heard it was b/c if he was skinny it would make him look unhappy but if he was fat then it means he was joyful and prosperous
