this is a really hard question.
cats are good for little to no upkeep, but at the same time they offer little company while dogs (usually) have a lot of upkeep, but are (again usually) more friendly.
I grew up with dogs, but now have two cats, but I've gotta say, I miss my old Chihuahua.

I love them both, for different reasons. Dogs are always so happy to see you, they are the ultimate in friends, nobody can show you excitement and happiness like a dog can! Then cats, they are so independent, but I love it when they curl up in my lap when I'm watching tv at night. I'm finding cats can be kind of dirty though, and I'm not too happy about that. Still I have 5 of them, and 3 dogs and I love them all. 2 horses too:-)

Dogs- they are smarter, more loyal, can do more, more love able, trainable, and [most] don't snap as easily as a cat would. Cats are nice for people who don't have time for dogs. I would always recommend a dog though. Besides, they don't fuss when you dress them up.. most of them ;)

Dogs! I love dogs because they are more protective of you and you can do all kinds of outdoor activities with them. Plus they are more dependent then cats.

Dogs. They are more into pleasing u. Cat's are very independent and tent to do everything on their terms.

Both. The dog to help my self esteem, the cat to keep me humble.
But really, I love both. Cats for their affection and purring, dogs for their devotion and love of roughhousing.

a dog for sure. you can call a cat that is five feet away, and they don't listen, but if you call a dog that's a quarter mile away, he'll come running. they're more trustworthy and they are more usefull.

Cats because I can go away for the weekend and not have to have a sitter for them.

dogs because they're more affectionate and they play with you and they don't give you the evil eye and plot against you...
cats are evil I swear it! Theyre the favorite pet of Satan!!!
