You wont let any harm come to you will you? Your feelings are important to you aren't they? You hopefully respect yourself don't you. You take care of yourself, and care what happens to yourself, don't you. Then you love yourself. So if you treat yourself with care and respect, treat others that same way. That's love

I take it as meaning self respect or self esteem. Don't put yourself down. You might not do this and maybe that is why you're asking but there are people who do put themselves down a lot. I think just by loving yourself you are setting an example for other people to follow and that is how you pass it on to your neighbor. It is also easier to be good to others when you are good to yourself in my opinion. When people are mean to others it says more about how they feel about themselves than the person they are trying to hurt.

To love yourself is not to hurt or harm yourself in anyway, be good to yourself, treat your body with the love and care you know will benefit it, and showing your neighbor the same kind of love is good to do, everyone wants to be loved, and cared for, so this means being able to show, and treat your neighbors in exactly the way we would want to be treated.

This is bad advice. Used intentionally to keep you and I powerless so they can swoop in and fix all our bad choices
.
Better advice would be like this:

Judge and be prepared to be judged.
Sometimes love (a value judgment) requires tough and harsh judgments.

But set your own scale for what is valuable and what is not. You have the ability to do so. And judge yourself based on that scale, not to the faulty scale of others.
Logically use others you also respect, as good feed back. Make friends with honest people. For they are interested in love and life.
Those that tell you what you want to hear are only thinking of their own overwhelming needs. And could care less about you.

Nietzsche once said "Christians can only think of themselves." And he is right. Notice he said "can" because he recognized they were rendered helpless by their helpless philosophy. Thus their human needs never get met and become overwhelming to them and are unable to see the bigger honest picture.

Realize that you are a valueable person and deserveing of respect. Get a good education because you deserve it.
Get a good job for the same reason. Buy yourself a house
All these things give us a sense of purpose or accompolishment
Not for the material value. But it is called self esteem
No one can give that to you. You have to do that for yourself.
someone who doesn't love themselves, lets people use them for sex. Lives off others hard work and contributes very little to society. Only after you love yourself can you love others.

It's an ongoing thing, like eating, for instance. You don't just eat once & then not expect to get hungry again, right? Love is similar to eating. You must continue to love who you are by asking God to examine your thoughts & to know your heart. That way, whatever is not love, that is inside of you, will be consumed by love. At times, it can be unpleasant, even painful. Fortunately, it works better for those who willingly surrender, than those who go kicking and screaming. When people see you loving yourself, they don't feel threatened by you; in a sense, they feel safe. Although, you may be vulnerable to them, just believe that God will bless those who bless you & oppose those who oppose you. I love who I am, although it was a difficult journey, it was worth it. God is taking care of the lies I believed & showing me that it's not my fault for believing lies. The real kicker is that if you believe God loves you, then you believing that you love yourself, will roll right along with it. That's the only way your neighbor will receive your love because you actually have something to give in return, without them even asking. You cannot give, if at first you don't receive.

Love yourself - know what you want and need in life and do what you can to get those things that will make you happy.

Love your neighbor as yourself - you want and need things in order to be happy, and you try your best to give other people what they want and need to be happy as well.

LOVING YOURSELF MEANS THAT NO MATTER WHAT ANYBODY ELSE THINKS, YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND ARE HAPPY WITH THE PERSON YOU SEE. YOU CAN BE SINGLE AND HAPPY BECAUSE YOU FULFILL YOUR OWN LIFE. WHEN YOU LOVE YOURSELF IT SHOWS AND OTHER PEOPLE ARE MORE LIKELY TO LIKE YOU AND WANT TO GET TO KNOW YOU CAUSE YOU'LL BE A HAPPIER PERSON.

"LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF" IS BASICALLY SAYING TO DO ONTO OTHER AS YOU WOULD HAVE DONE TO YOU.

Love your neighbor as yourself = Treat others as you'd like to be treated. Talk to your neighbor as you'd like to be spoken to, etc.

it is simple, i guess as a human u wont want surffer right? or u like to see urself get burnt by fire likewise neighbors. in other words, u get to be in need sometimes and u would want some help from someone and likewise your neighbors and when u help ur self by geting what u are in need of that means u love urself and if u do to others what u like to do to ur self(good things though) then it means u love ur neighbors

Well it says that we need to love our neighbor AS we would love yourself, so it's like treat people the way you would want to be treated. God wants ua to love ourself, but we need to love everyone with the same love and kindness we treat ourself to. That is one of the greatest commandments of God to love our neighbor as yourself because if we follow that then the other 9 just follow in like honoring your father and your mother, not to steal, not to murder, exc... because if you love everyone like you love yourself then those things would not even be an option for you to do because you wouldn't want people to lie to you, steal form you, or mufder you, exc...

I hope you understand now.
God bless
As your sister in Christ
Samantha
