I know this is so weird... but my cat sits on our windowsills, looks out screen doors and claws at doors and twitches when he does it, and makes this shaky meow sound... its scary and weird! I know he probably just wants outside, but he declawed and could get hurt, living inside all his life. but he doing it right now as i type!! anyone elses cat do this?

He is doing what I call chattering. He sees something, a bird, another cat or even a fly, that has his hunting instincts in gear and he's just all excited. Not all cats do this, over the years, I would say only about 1/3 of those I have owned did. He's fine, don't let him outside. Get him some cat nip, and put that in the window sill, as it will help him stay in a calmer state of mind

I've had cats my whole life and the 2 I have now do that all the time.....they sit by the patio doors and make those strange sounds when they see birds, squirrels, rabbits. They even do that when I've got they're favorite toy (a twist tie) in my hand....they see something they want but cant get to it.Nothings wrong with him.My cats are declawed and I let them outside on the deck with me and I live on a highway...but I've been doing this since they were kittens. If yours is full grown then he'd probably just end up running from you, poor thing, maybe you could make him a cage with a top so he can sit outside.

That shaky meow sound is what my cat does when he sees something outside he wants to attack. Alot of cats make this sound when stalking birds.
It's the cat's natural instinct to want to hunt, so maybe you should get some toys that are like prey. Like the little mice made of real fur and maybe some things that hang from the doorknob that he can attack. He might just be bored.

yeah its definitely dangerous to let him out if hes declawed. you may need to ask the vet about suggestions. maybe if you put him on leash and took him out to play every now and then. i know i know. a cat on a leash but you don't have to walk him you can just tie him up for a little bit and make sure he has some slack so that he can play a little bit. also you may be able to distract your kitty from the outdoors by getting him a playmate or some more toys. i had many cats like yours and have tried different methods different methods worked for different cats. however if your kitty does get his way which i don't recommend make sure he has all his shots. oh, if hes not fixed that might be your problem they tend to wind down after being neutered.

When a cat sees something outside but cant get to it, it does that wierd shaking-twitching thing with the mouth. This is because there is an obsticle in the way(meaning the screen or the window)It does that because it wants the thing outside but cant get to it.I Read it in a cat book in petco.

Your cat isn't bored, hungry or nuts...he's just being a cat. He wants to go outside and catch a bird that he sees.
My cat does the same thing; she'll sit in the window and make that funny sound when she sees birds and rabbits. I always tease her and say "That bird/rabbit doesn't have enough meat on it for a meal" or "If you catch it, you have to clean it and cook it."
Cats haven't been domesticated as long as dogs have, so they still have some wild instincts in them. Your cat is fine - just make sure the doors and window screens are tight so he doesn't get hurt.

Yes, this is his prey drive. Cats will sit somewhere and if they see any kind of movement, from insects to small animals or birds, they will make a broken sort or chirping sound and hit their tail against whatever they are near. This is a very common occurance, but, since your cat is declawed, you should indeed not even think about letting him outside. He cannot protect himself. This is perfectly healthy for him to do, and I wouldnt discourage it, but it can help his prey drive to give him toys, like little fabric mice to keep that instinct up.

by employing the time you become attentive to a metamorphosis on your cat's habit the cat has been in misery for particularly a while. No thank you to tell what's incorrect of course, vomiting is a symptom of many things, a threat poisoning. The prognosis needs to made by employing the veterinarian. To do? pass exterior and get the cat into the domicile. Take the cat in to the veterinarian ASAP.

had cats all my life and they all have been indoor cats. look at him while he is doing this....he is just talking about how he can get out there, what a cute and tasty bird you could be, what is this thing between you and me, someone help me etc. Don't worry nothing wrong with the cat, mine have survived indoors. Actually I have two that were doing the same thing then I went outside and they saw me then started to meow..they were saying hey how did you do that???
